Iain,
Downloaded the file ...looks great but a couple of questions...

Does picking a given A/C and then selecting "create flight plan" put
that A/C at every airport? Is there a way to limit a given plane to
just certain airports?

Thanks
Bob

Bob,

Interesting question and one that I had not previously considered. I
don't think you can be as precise as you probably want. Under the
airports tab by expanding world you can select the countries you want
aircraft to operate in and under the planes tab you can alter the
percentage chance of seeing that plane. You can also select the type of
flying the plane will do. I don't think there is anything else you can do.

Having decided which planes I want involved and the type of flying I
just let it run. I deactivate planes with floats and skis as they look
silly if they show up at most airports. Also if I see too much of a type
I just reduce the percentage chance of seeing it.

I don't think you'll be swamped by them but try it and see.

Bob,

Not quite right in what I said earlier. If under the airports tab you
click on world, for every country the airports in FS are listed and by
clicking on them you can select whether they are used or not. However,
quite a task unless you only want to deactivate a handful!

Having said that, your original post reminded that although I had used
the prog a lot in FS9 I hadn't installed it in FSX. So I've done that
but so far at the few UK airports I've visited I've not seen any GA
traffic. Further investigation required!

Hi Iain,

I have a vague memory, from my early days of using the program in FS9,
of actually editing the GA-Traffic.bgl file.

My idea was to get a whole lot of WWII fighters at my home airport, and
nowhere else...

I can't remember which program/process I used for the editing, but I do
remember that it was an EXTREMELY laborious process......

Worked, though!

Regards,
John Ward

Thanks guys,

What I really was trying to do was keep all the military A/c from just
going to Military bases. I'll keep working at it.
Thanks again

Hi John,

Yes I've done that in FS9 and it was relatively easy using Lee Swordy's
TrafficTools but he never updated it for FSX. However, I downloaded a
programme from Flight Sim by Don Grovestine which does the job but it's
different from TTools so it takes a bit of getting used to. I used it to
edit one of my World of AI plans to stop an airline using Coventry
airport, which they no longer do. I succeeded in that but I fear I may
have inadvertently stopped all flights by that airline! Never mind, it's
all good fun! :-)

Regards
Iain

I did the traffic file I'm using in FSX using traffic tools.
So it will work with FSX. But.. I forgot what changes were
involved between fs9 and fsx. I did it a long time ago..
But it must work in FSX, being as I did it..
Mine were mainly adding regular Southwest jets to the major
airports I run, and also some extra GA aircraft to some of the
smaller airports I used.
I always kind of liked editing the source files myself
and compiling with TT, cuz you can pretty much do anything
you want as far as skeds, land or touch and go, etc..
And you can use whatever plane you want, which will not
effect any other airports that are not modified.
As far as I remember, the traffic format is basically the
same for both fs9 and fsx.

I think it worked in FSX prior to either SP1 or SP2. It certainly
wouldn't do anything when I tried a couple of days ago. :-)
