As K.os mentioned many moons ago, it's very cold in winter but also very
hot (not only the chicks) in summer. So like +30°C is not that
spectacular in summer. And -30°C in winter (chicks still hot, but don't
show it then ;-).

Do you have a national day there?
In Germany it would be October 3rd then, France has July 14th.

In Australia? Jesus, I don't know. Been here 12 years. I think there
might be some sort of an excuse for a day off work in January. That must
be 'White Australia Day.' New Zealand has 'Waitangi day' which celebrates
a Treaty between Pakeha (Whites) and Maori. It's all a bit silly really
when you stop to think about it. I like the German Idea of a whole month
(October) dedicated to girls in skimpy outfits serving large jugs of, er,
beer.

Don't talk to me about ANZAC day. I was in Wellington a few years ago
(2004) having a great time getting pissed on a pub Crawl around the
Courtney Place area. (Only in Wellington would they think of converting
Public Toilets into a Welsh Pub.) Anyways, it was the day before Anzac
day, and then just after midnight, I went to the bar and the bartender
says: 'no we can't serve alcohol anymore' ...because it was ANZAC Day.
Huh???????????? - I think that was when the 1/2 day must start, at
midnight, and then you have to wait until 12 noon to have a drink. Only
in New Zealand.

I could be wrong, but I don't think 2-Up is played in NZ. In fact, apart
from the horses, NZ doesn't really have a gambling culture/problem...not
like NSW with half the worlds pokie machines.
