MAME is now up to 148u1.

Check out a.b.e.mame. Updated ROMs, CHDs, and even the executables
are usually all posted as they are made available.

True, but sadly they stopped updating MameUI. Since I don't have the
time (or knowledge) to roll my own version, I'll be stuck where they
stopped. :(
Unless someone has a good alternative. (Hint, hint.)

I remembered my problem. Versions after 0.146 doesn't play well with the
old Kaillera client! ;)
