<shrug> Sound response seems a bit better with 125. Though, the weird
changes in the cheat system that have been going on over the past year
have me a bit irked.

I still run .37b11. I like the scanline system better than later
versions. It has sound issues on some games, but I can live with that.
I can't live with the updated scanlines. I do have .102 or .103 just
for a couple of the newer games it supports. I don't play them, my 7
yr old does. I prefer my crusty old geezer games.....
I am not upgrading. The only thing I try to get the newest roms are the
184 for my MAME page to keep it up to date. I guess mainly newbies visit
it with a fresh installed MAME version, so it would be bad if just the
rom they were originally after doesn't run.

Perfect emulation of Bubble Bobble. Who needs more of a reason than that? :)

There are no reasons to keep old versions.
latest highlights:
generic dynamic recompilers
gaelco world rally decryption
not to even mention the tons of fixes especially for the classics
OK, but at what version of mame did that happen??? I think a long
time ago... Am I wrong???
Do you know which classics were fixed or a link or list of them???
Thanks!!!
Damn good reason. Williams rocks. I was always drawn to their machines at
the arcades.

lol, hang on, I'm thinking of Bubbles.
It was in version 0.108. (Well, specifically, 0.107u3, but I tend to ignore
the revision releases)

Coldplay wrote a song about the mame developers and all their fixes...

Me too. I recall when I saw Defender the first time in 1980. Wow, what a
sound and the graphics...
> lol, hang on, I'm thinking of Bubbles.
That game I hated.
Williams had the best attract screens and the best sound. Defender was
probably the coolest game in the arcade, at least until Tempest came
along years later.

I know it will never happen but I'm not upgrading until MAME uses
hardware acceleration of some sort. I'd love to be able to play Blitz
and its ilk! I'll stick with 1.02 for now.
Matt
Stupidity suits you.
OG.
Blitz works fine here on my system. And why you ask? Because I can enjoy
the new updates, the generic DRC cores, the 64bit build, etc..etc...
Real nice. Takes one to know one! Nah, nah, nah, nah, nah. :-)
Matt
Hmm.. Well if thats the case then I might look into upgrading. I've
not bothered in a while since my kids mainly play the thing now.
Matt
Sure there are. Being able to watch old replays from MARP that were
recorded with old versions is a top one for me. Another is that even
though there have been lots of fixes for many classics, there are
still
cases where an older version plays "better". An interesting case in
point
is Ms Pac Man. A kill-screen capable player says that he uses MAME
0.90 to practice because it behaves closer to how the actual arcade
machine plays than other versions he has tried (like 0.78, 0.106).
A third is that the older versions will actually run on older
computers
which is all that some people may have.

I agree with all of these reasons.
