I've had similar problems with all kinds of peripherals. Sometimes it's
just better to use the generic Windows driver. If only to avoid the
awesome amount of crapware you have to uninstall afterwards because
there's no such option in the installer. Printers are a bane.

installs a brand new browser that hijacks clicks and e-mail client with

Hmmm, I've been holding off on that. I just don't take the time to play,
and even when I do I prefer Turn Based Strategy and stuff like Sim City.
They don't do so well on consoles.

Audacity with the lame dll file. Can convert to different formats aswell.

I've used and liked several Linux versions. But for daily use on one
single machine, Windows still wins out. I've got everything running the
way I like it, e-mail, RSS feeds, podcasts. It took a while to get that
set up the way I like it. If you could copy all that over to Linux and
also pop one of those PC game CD's into a Linux machine and just have it
run, it would become an actual option.

And that's why I always recommend Windows. Almost anything in the shops
works on Windows, providing you've got the hardware for it. Easier than
explaining why the computergame they just bought for their Apple won't
work. Although Apple folk now mostly buy downloads it seems. It's been
easily half a year since the last person asked me about games on an Apple.

Apple is just silly. I care very little for it. I actually have a
Windows installation for PC games, but I never use it. And I prefer to
run Windows-only applications for work in virtual machines.

I just hate Windows. Not for technical reasons, just for personal taste.

Sigh, that sounds like so much work. Especially if someone wants me to
put the same stuff on their computer, someone who doesn't know the
difference between Linux, Apple and Windows. You know, *most* people.

Mind you, I've made someone's laptop mildly usable again with a USB
stick distro of Ubuntu. The controller was shot and it didn't recognize
any hardrive. But it did boot from USB, just didn't want to write.

We've got Dove chocolate over here. And Dove soap. It's best not to mix
the two up. I must say that the taste of chocolate varies country by
country. Both Polish and British chocolate is quite different from
Verkade or Van Houten. Then there's the huge variety in Belgian
chocolate or the specific company tastes like Daim, Milka or Tomblerone.

You ass!!! I was halfway through mies before I caught on you were
switching to Dutch (instead of the Chinese, I assumed). Have you got any
idea how weird that sounded in my head???

Strangely, if kids these days get the tests of one or two generations
ago, they do tend to get higher grades. At least on the stuff that
stayed the same. Claims students these days are dumber seem unfounded.
However there does seem to be a increasing tendency to study to the
test. Try and figure out what's on the test, study that, forget the rest.

Another weird thing about studies in the Netherlands. Send them to a
college and have them specialize in one subject, then force them to
choose courses outside their subject they're likely to never use again.
If they don't, they won't graduate.
