Kudus to the makers, A lot of work must of went into this one, Will
definitely play it again later.
Thanks CF for pointing it out .

I see the response it has gotten, so I figured I'd try it.
It seemed to download and install properly. It showed up on the games list
in the proper place.
When I click on the game, it wants to download the Source SDK Base and
install it.
I did'nt know whether it might need it or not, so I let it.
I did some googling on the subject while it was installing, and it looks
like no player should need any of the SDK's installed to play any MOD. I
see some posts saying about the only thing in the SDK Base is the Lost Coast
Video Stress Test.
I go back and try the game again. It loads, it starts, sure enough it's
nothing but the stress test.
I tried deleting the SDK Base and restart everything, sure enough when I
click on the game it tells me that I am about to download and install the
SDK Base again. I looked for info on the Strider Mountain website, no
mention.
I pick around at the files, and it sure looks like a 17 level game, but my
Steam game start menu seems to be confused.
Anybody here have a clue what I should try??
TIA, Lefty

A couple things to check, The D/L Zip file is 398 MB this should unpack into
yor sourcemods folder as a 3.97 GB folder named Strider_Mountain.
You shouldn't need the SDK to run mods, But you do need HL2 installed,
Deleting the Client registry blob file sometimes helps then restart steam it
will automatically rebuild it.
You may have got a corrupted D/L and may have to delete it all and start
over with a fresh D/L (last resort), someone else may have some better
Ideas.
Good luck, I hope you get it working, its well worth it.

I'll give that stuff a try, thanks. Here's a minor bit someone could check
out for me; in your Steamapps/Sourcemods/Strider Mountain folder, there is
file named gameinfo.txt. Here are the contents of mine;
BEGIN FILE CONTENTS
"GameInfo"
{
game "Strider Mountain"
title ""
type "singleplayer_only"
developer "SPY Baltic TB Cubedude89"
developer_url "http://www.stridermountain.com"
icon "icon"
FileSystem
{
SteamAppId 215
ToolsAppId 211
SearchPaths
{
Game |gameinfo_path|.
Game sourcetest
Game hl2
}
}
}
END FILE CONTENTS
Note that the searchpaths indicate HL2 and also sourcetest. I'm wondering
if the sourcetest part should something else, like StriderMountain. I may
just try it myself, but if someone could confirm the contents, I'd
appreciate.....
TIA, Lefty

I checked that, all looks OK

All Ok so far

Not sure what you mean here. On that particular game (and some of the
others), there is no option that I can see to delete the local content if
that's what you mean. If not, is there a file name I have to track down or
some such??

Hi Lefty, My Gameinfo.txt file is exactly the same as yours, game paths are
the same.
Client registry.blob file is in the steam Folder. in the root directory,
delete it there or rename it from there, client registry.old in case it does
not rebuild. it is a file that covers all games.

Tried everything mentioned here, no luck.
Threw original files and zip out, downloaded from another site, no luck.
Went into Steam Tools, installed the SDK Base-Orange Box instead of the
regular SDK Base the game was requesting, SUCCESS!!
The game updated itself when launched (instead of insisting to download the
SDK), appeared to launch normally after updating, and went on to start and
show all 17 chapters in the start menus. I did'nt go any further, as I
don't have time to play now, but I've no reason to believe it won't work
from this point on. I'll give it a try and repost
tonight.................................
Thanks again for your efforts Rene.
