Don't overruse them or read ahead though or you'll spoil the game!

I quite agree - there's not much in there that can't be worked out by a
bit of brain power and a bit of trial and error. The Half-Life mantra
is 'Run *Think* Shoot Live', after all.

I've always hated the phrase 'walk-through' anyway... it shouldn't be
seen as a gentle stroll through leafy woodland. Now, if she wanted a
'crawl (bleeding, poisoned, burned and massively outnumbered but still
trying) through' that would be better....

Curse that mantra, curse it!! - it caused me no end of grief...
Now if they'd just made it 'Run Think Shoot Reload Live' I would have
been on to a winner.

Try leaving out the 'Think' part of it and just
concentrate on 'Run Shoot Reload Live'.
Works for me.
