I'm new to this DM Genie thing, just trying it out to see if it's
going to work for my campaign. So far, things are looking VERY
positive. I've figured out most of the critical things, and have
been very happy with the capabilities of the software. There is one
thing that I haven't been able to figure out, though, and I'm sure
it's just a case of me not knowing where to do whatever it is that I
want to do.
When you're going to have the PC's go up against a village of
humanoids, the typical thing is for the village to consist of
combatants(male warriors), non-combatants (maybe females/old/young),
along with some sub-chiefs and chieftains and shamans and stuff.
So, I'm going to put my guys up against a bugbear raiding party, and
I want to include (what I call) Bugbears, Bugbear Sergeants, Bugbear
Chief, and Bugbear Shaman.
When including things that normally appear in the monster manual
under the stats for that thing, it's easy, just click on Add Monster
and bingo bango you're done. You can ALSO click on "add levels"
check mark, which brings up the levelling wizard. That's fine if
you're only doing one, but I often like to use the same thing over
and over again. That is to say, my bugbear raiding parties consist
of varying quantities of chiefs, sergeants, shamans and regular
warriors, and nothing else. ANd the chiefs, etc, don't really change
from encounter to encounter.
Basically, I don't want to have to re-run the levelling wizard each
time. Is there a way to add a bugbear sergeant as a monster to the
main list of monsters? So, I will have a bugbear, just plain jane ol
bugbear, in the list, then underneath that will be Bugbear Sergeant,
then Bugbear Shaman, etc... then the Bulette or whatever is under
Bugbear in the monster list.
That way, I can select Bugbear 1, Bugbear 2, and then Bugbear
Sergeant 1 from the monster list. I can do this for goblins, orcs,
etc, all sorts of tribal creatures.
Thanks for any help!

You need to use the Race Editor. Copy the current Bugbear race and rename, to
Bugbear Sgt. for example. Now edit the new Race (Bugbear Sgt.) to increase
the stats, weapons, reach, anything and everything you want. Now when you
populate a new group, just click on add monster and you will see Bugbear and
Bugbear Sgt. in the list.
Another quick hint for adding multiples of the same thing: put a number next
to the name. Bugbear1, for example. Keep clicking on Add and DM Genie will
keep incrementing the number for you as it adds them.
