This is no big deal. Doesn't one of the Thex weapon quests have a single
charge of bind on it? This certainly isn't the first bind item.

What's the big deal? there is at least one other bind items in the
game...and it is acquired through a low level quest...albeit a somewhat long
one. Turn in the Thex Mallet and you get a Ring of the Dead, which while it
can only be worn by Shadowknights or Necros, has a single charge of bind
which can be used by anybody with the ring in their possession.

My guess is that it's a bugged item and the effect was supposed to be "gate".
Makes more sense, no? Particularly because the only other item with the effect
of bind affinity was removed from the game, on purpose.

I'm going to try to bind my noob in timorous with it. Who knows, maybe it'll
work. :)

I wonder if this is not incorrect and it is actually supposed to be one charge
of Gate. The way Kunark dungeons (at least the one I've seen/heard about) are
set up, melee classes CAN'T get out without some form of teleport. Does the
name "Locket of Escape" make sense on an item that binds? Well, no, but neither
does not letting melees bind anywhere in the first place.

The Ring of the Dead was removed and replaced with the Reaper of the Dead, an SK
only scythe.

The Ring of the Dead was removed from the game
because it was thought to be too unbalancing. It
was replaced by a decent 2HS weapon for shadow
knights

Going to get nerfed. An "Escape" sounds like it was supposed to get a Gate
spell.
