Everquest is a game for Powergamers.  'When my friends powergamed themselves
to level 8, and I was still stuck on level 4 I was not able to venture witht
them.  As a
group when they killed skeletons I did not gain experience. Nor lesser
mummies etc.

This is a good thing the programmers did because it disallowed a low level
char
venturing with a high level party and gaining exp quicker.  however this
disallows
the long term group aspects.  More than likely you will not be able to go
hunt with them
as they will be able to goto tuffer and tuffer dungeons.

There are no social aspects as defending my friends house/tower from
intruders.
The only social concept in the game is to group Hunt/Level....and now i'm
getting bored

For those that think that some new features ex. Guildhouses are coming
soon.....keep
kissing Brad's Ass because as long as their subscriber rate stays high it
ain't going
to happen.

Well, if your not into making levels there's nothing stopping you from
roleplaying with your freinds....

Where did you read this? what gives you that idea? what is this founded on?
If your going to try to convince us of something, at least give a valid
argument.

There are plenty of social aspects to the game, it's just that most people
are more intersted in levelling right now than roleplaying. All the towns
have inns, many have Arenas, there is all types of potential for social
experiences. I'm sure these things will start to be used once some people
start getting over the level 50 or bust mentality.

Dying because your friends are level 25, and want to play in Najena and
you're only level 10... that isn't going to "stop you?"

no... since when do you have to be in Najena to rp?
even at lvl 25 your friends will need to come back to town, to re supply,
lvl, etc.  I spent 30 minutes talking to a troll that was 27 lvl's higher
than
me in beta, and I didn't even know him.  Personally, I don't limit myslef to
just people I know, I join a new group everyday, and have a good time, and
make friends.  I'm in a guild and every one else is roughly 10 lvl's  higher
than
me, do I complain? no.  Why not? because I'm not power gaming.

I freely admit I'm doing a bit of power-gaming right now, about 50% of
the time I would say.  Not all the time, I still have fun role-playing
and go exploring a fair bit.  But I really want to get to the point
where it's safe to travel around safely.  As soon as I reach that, I
will slow down, join my friends on our world trip, and stop caring
about levels so much.

Same here. Powergame like crazy until level 12, get bind, then travel
the world not worrying about needing to level again.

I plan on doing exactly the same (i am level 10 now). The problem
about exploring and socialization is that at low levels, you are
really not very effective to do anything. Travel a bit and you die.

I guess after making levels in the teens that I can slow down a bit
and enjoy the world.

I believe that there are far too few concepts in EQ to actually promote
roleplaying. Sure, you can do it, and it is fun. However the game supports
(up to now) powergaming much more. I'm playing a magician (lvl 7) and I am
working on getting to level 12 to get the Bind Affinty Spell, which is an
essential part to just being able to adventure through the world of Norrath.
If death and teleprting back to your starting point was handled differently,
the game would offer much more suspense and fun.
