Necromancers need the chips to cast their pet spells, as well as other
spells -- as I learned to my regret.
===
"Hey, do bone chips decay with time? I had 28, now I've got 4."
Miskin casts *Numb The Dead*.
"Oh, crap, I've only got 2 now!"
===
Now, I remove all components before casting a new spell, just to make sure.

If at first you don't succeed, cheat. Cheat until caught, then lie.

Shaman collect snake scales (the skins you get from newbie snakes).
If you want to make an instant freind out of a shaman, drop a pile of
20 snake scales on him. Anone who gives me scales gets to be the
lucky recipient of every buff spell I own (currently six of them).
They usually are so happy that they bring me more.
