Gemstone Progress
-----------------

CUBE RECIPES
- Any Item (weapon, armour, jewelry) + El rune + chipped gem -> removes
+1 Light Radius bonus from item
(Useful for items with many attribute lines: too many can make the
attributes invisible! Use this to get rid of a useless attribute!)

- 3 of the same grade Health/Mana Potions -> 1 Health/Mana Potion of
next grade. IE, 3 Minor potions -> 1 Light Potion.

MONSTERS
- Lord de Seis is now Cold Enchanted instead of Extra Strong (that mod
never made sense for him :P ). He also spawns with more minions.
- Oblivion Knights may now spawn with their own kind as well as Doom
Knights. Be careful!

Good man, keep up the great work. :-)

(Although I'm still not sure that I'd have given OKs back the ability to
cast IM....)

They don't seem to use it, unfortunately. To my mind, it made the Chaos
Sanctuary easier than it should be to disable IM on Okies.

Yeahbut only for some classes. It was very biased against meelee toons but
made very little difference to ranged or spell-casting toons. I remember my
one foray into HC that I never did take my Pally past hell Diablo as he
wasn't massively powerful, using what he found (also with a bit of help from
the AGDHC crew) I was too worried about losing him.

He took a long time to kill things and, although he got past the bastards in
NM I didn't think he'd do it in hell, so there he sat.....

The only thing that would be 'fair' to balance it IMO would be if there was
an essential area of the game inhabited by monsters that were immune to
everything except physical - and even then casters might just squeak through
by dint of their hirelings. <shrug>

Hope you're well. :-)

Ahh shame :( I take it he didn't have much in the way of hammers since
those are ideal for dealing with IM.

In any case, okies in Gemstone don't seem to know how to use IM despite
it being listed in the skills they can use. So I guess CS is still gonna
be IM-less. LOL!

Well any area with harpies is basically IM for sorcs. ;)

Not bad, could be worse! How about you?

No, he was my usual, a freezealot. My first ladder of HC, I wasn't about to
go playing toons I had no experience with. I didn't have multiple keys and
laptops set up back then either. :(

Nice. My plans to change to playing Gemstone have been halted somewhat by my
reluctance to let go of my loverly off-ladder uber-runewords and the
occasional co-op game.

Good to hear. I'm OK for now... Welfare here have recently cut my Invalid's
Benefit considerably and I'm appealing the decision. If that doesn't go well
then things go go south very quickly as I'm not getting enough to pay bills
and eat at the moment..... :-/

Not unless it was buffed it isn't. Harpies might make a sorc slow her
casting, and that's only if she has more mana than life(my primary
sorc has 2.5k life 2.4k mana, so Blood Mana doesn't affect her at
all), but it was never a 1 hit kill. IM was guaranteed, 1 shot
instant death if you were a standard melee build using a half decent
weapon. If you were an Auradin using Rift you might survive, Fury
druids could sometimes live because of the shapeshift bug(the one
where when they die in feral form they shift to human form with 1 hp,
a really fast or lucky druid could use a rejuv pot before they took
the 1 hp of damage and died), but regular zealots(and many auradins,
shockadins, and freezealots), smiters, chargers, WW, conc, and frenzy
barbs, WW and kicksins, and I assume spear/jabazons were instantly
dead if they got IMed mid attack. Even if my ES nova sorc(3.5k mana 1k
life) gets Blood Mana'ed mid-cast she doesn't die instantly and can
even continue to fire off several novas before she's in any danger
from the curse.

That makes sense. ;) My first HC char was a javazon, a clas I was
familiar with too. Of course she died in A4 normal. :P LOL!

Hehe! I've actually started playing online a little bit again; not sure
how long it'll last though!

Ack! I hope that works out; I know how that kind of crap goes. Damn
bureaucracy. :(

It's been a loooong time since I've played a sorc, so I stand corrected. :)

Same principle; less risk. ;)

Thanks. Spent most of the day composing my letter asking for a review of the
decision (and tracking down receipts, billls etc.). I seriously dislike
living off the credit card and I have a $600+ home contents insurance bill
due next month.....

Cheers,

Thanks. I dropped the appeal letter (and copies of bills etc.) off two days
ago. The waiting continues.....

Typical bureaucracy: waiting is the major feature. ;)
