Thorns plus Prayer x3 pally build?

I know, I know - thorns sucks past normal difficulty nowadays, but I
feel like a challenge :-)

What I'm wondering is, to help with the life I'll lose as a punching
bag, can I learn Prayer myself, equip the Plague runeword with it's
Cleansing aura, and get a normal difficulty combat merc with his Prayer
aura and an Insight polearm (with it's Meditation aura) equipped - and
thus get Prayer from three sources at once?

Will that work? I assume since Insight on a merc gives Prayer on the
Meditation aura resulting in 2x Prayer, it will work the same way with
Plague's Cleansing aura if my pally equips it and trains Prayer in his
skill tree?

Or is there some fatal flaw in this plan, other than thorns sucking
really badly by hell?

Plague is not a runeword. That's pretty fatal. Sorry. :)

37% Deadly Strike (Based on Character Level) [+3% DeadlyStrike/Lvl]
25% Chance of Open Wounds.
Freezes Target +3.
+10 Strength.

Ah, I see from further investigation it is real, but was never activated
by Blizzard except during 1.11's beta :-( Le crap. Well, good thing I
asked first, ha! Guess I'll just go with Mediation via Insight on combat
merc to get two sources of Prayer.

And Briton Robbins never updated his PDF after listing it as
"unconfirmed," so that didn't help. The MPQ TXT file shows all the
stats present, but there is no '1' in the 'Complete' column, making it
unavailable in the game. If you're playing SP, you could mod it
yourself to contain that value, thereby enabling the runeword for your
own use.


In case you've never seen it, I once wrote a program to find runewords
based on various criteria, so that explains my piping up. You can use
it via your browser at http://d2game.info/d2xdata/ If you've never seen
it, I'd suggest you try it soon, because the domain is due to expire in
a month, and my ability to renew it is uncertain, even at this point.

Yeah, I made one once and was quite disappointed. Only Cham I've ever found
totally wasted.

I was relying on the PDF runeword guide, which does say it's unconfirmed. I
can confirm it is not a real runeword.

Yep, I've seen your runeword tool and used it a few times when I wanted
to know what I could make without having to manually work it out. Handy
:-)

If it's a question of money for the hosting, I hope you'll move it to
free hosting after your domain name expires. I hate to see good
resources fade away, especially for a game like Diablo II which isn't
only heaps of fun, but better/different than D3 in several ways. I've
not touched D3 in many months. But I still play D2 once a week at least.

It's on free hosting, now. The domain name registration is what is set
to expire. The renewal for a .info is only like $10 per year, so
hopefully I can come up with at least a year's extension by June.
