I used to have a hammerdin in 1.03 or so, before LoD came out and change
the damage bonus that Concentration gives to Blessed Hammers. I also
don't really have any of the recommended equipment, but since I'm used
to playing untwinked or mostly untwinked sorceresses, I think I can
manage. :) (Much easier to play on /players 8 early on with him so far,
that point in Might helps heaps, as do the nifty Paladin shields that drop.)
How high do you take Holy Shield later on?
M.
My lvl 90 hammerdin currently has lvl 14 holyshield, this is not the base
lvl Im using quiet a few plus skill items. I have gotten to the level where
I have all my synergies maxed so there doesnt seem to be much left to do but
keeping more points into holy shield. Mind you I dont know if I will be
lvling much further then 90 all depends on the ladder reset really.

Depends on how high he will get to.
Maxed Blessed Hammer, synergies, Concentration, plus all pre-requisites mean
85 skill points. After that you really have nowhere to spend the points
except Holy Shield (and may be Resist Lightning if you do a lot of Gloam
runs and want to have extra LR that your items can't provide).
BTW, unless you have something better to use on switch (such as CTA), it's a
nice idea to equip the +most HS weapon and +most combat skill shield on
switch, just for casting the HS.

Probably 30. ;) My biggest problem with a hammerdin is that I have to
have the aura on the right button, which means I have to hold down shift
to throw hammers (or mouse-lock on a monster). That's unlike how I play
any other of my characters, so I'm having a hard time getting used to
it, especially since I find the shift key rather inaccessible when my
fingers rest on tab-QWER. Now if I re-assigned shift to ALT ... but then
where do I put the "show all these yummy items" command? It seems like a
lot of trouble for just one character. In fact, I only use the left
mouse button to walk, not for skills.

I don't like it either, but being able to kill just about everything almost
instantly almost makes up for it. My Hammerdin made it to 51 before I
started a new character, but I'll get back to him eventually.

Huh? Little finger dude - you got hands like Franz Liszt? ;-p

How did you ever get this far with all those cowardly resists I will never
know!
