Dark Forces ][ (Jedi Knight) will have a light sabor. However, I think that
blood would take away from the Star Wars feeling. The point of this game is
to recreate Star Wars, not Star Wars DOOM.

However, I think that even the multiple weapons and the kind of weapons
you carry
make it a Star Wars DOOM. So it would be no problem to use more blood in
it.
There is no such Star Wars feeling when firing rockets anyway.

Will you keep these posts to the thread you already started on this
topic? If someone wants to read about your DF realism opinions, they
can read the "Seeing Kyle in Action" thread.

I think that the game Dark forces would be too much with the blood. The
light saber I wouldn't mind though. The light saber is the weapon I been
waiting for. The blood for the games I think are one of the things that
takes the fun out of the game. (just look at Doom I and Wolfenstein 3d.)

Sorry, but this *is* another thread about realism in DF, and *I* didn't
start it.
I still think that some blood in DF would be amazing and wouldn't disturb
the
Star Wars feeling in any way.

I think the game is really great but it need some more work. like more star
wars music. so of the music just get to me and so i turn it off. i like the
music in rebel assault better.

the other think I feel this game needs is more Star Wars scenes from the movie
to play in.

and i like the idea of a light saber i think lucas Arts need to look at DF 95
and see what the people want in the game.

Jeez... you keep talking about how it's "not Star Wars like" that Kyle can
hold so many weapons... well, I got news for you pal, BLOOD is not Star
Wars like... there is only one scene in the entire trilogy where there is
blood, and it's only on screen for about 3 seconds... it's when Ben slices
off Ponda Baba's (Walrusman's) arm... I really don't understand HOW you
could say that blood wouldn't ruin the Star Wars feeling...

If memory serves, blood in DF was mentioned to be part of the light saber
stuff. Now, whenever the light saber was used (except when two jedis
fought each other)
there WAS blood. I'd think it is allright for DF or JK to show blood when
using a light saber.
Remember the jeti-like animal on Hoth?

Not to get into the bloody vs. clean argument, but just for a few
points/facts. First, a lightsaber caterizes (sp?) a cut, but there
were a few inconsistences probably best explained by the physical
attributes/qualities of a species. Second, I don't believe that in
any sourcebook/movie script/book that it mentioned the same fate for a
Light Jedi (i.e. the great beyond/body disappearing act <g>) as a Dark
Jedi where the Dark Jedi's body actually does die and rot. Third,
Jedi Knight won't have blood at least like DOOM/Quake/DN3D. Justin
Chin confirmed it in PC Gamer November Issue 1996 available in local
retail shops everywhere. There will be some, but not as much anyway.
Just FYI.

Looking for a little gore? Justin Chin (speaking about JK) has said that
although there will not be nearly as much gore as in...say...Doom, Duke
Nukem, Quake, Heretic (and many, many others), some enemies may lose limbs
when the light saber is used. I'm sure that there won't be dismembered
bodies all over the place, and probably little blood (energy weapons
should cauterize any open wounds anyway). But then again why bother with
DF or JK when you can get that stuff from a few hundred other games?

While gore is ok, I like a good story and puzzle in my first person games.

I agree. It's funny that you should mention Max Rebo's band- in the
Special Edition of ROJ, they are ERASING his entire band and putting in a
new one, and they're going to get rid of Lapti Nek and put in a new song
(by John Williams, I believe). But back to DF and JK: LA should
DEFINATELY come up with a new band and new songs, although Figrin Dan and
the Modal Nodes are pretty cool. I also think that they should come up
with new music during the levels; the music in DF was basically parts of
SW songs, with a few dashes here and there of new stuff. I LOVED the
music in TIE Fighter in the opening credits: you expect the happy,
Skywalker theme, but you get the triumphant, almost sinister Vader/New
theme. On another note: I think in the DF custom level ARCADIA (I think
it's that one), the author put in the music from TIE Fighter. Not bad!

I disagree. I would have liked DF better if it had done LESS rehashing of
old music at inappropriate times. Like the opening crawl; starts out with
the same old Skywalker theme; *HELLO* -- this game is about KYLE KATARN,
not Skywalker (Skywalker coudln't even stop a jetpackless Boba at Cloud City :)
Tie Fighter had the courage to do away with this tradition; playing Darth
Vader's theme when the crawl talks about Vader bringing justice to the
Rebel scum, and the imperial navy theme when talking about the navy.
Seeing DF regress (even slightly) back to the unimaginative cut and paste
philosophy of Rebel Assault and (to a lesser degree) X-Wing was a
disappointment. A mild one compared to the great game that followed,
but disappointing even so.

WHY?? You're not playing any of the characters in the movies, and
I don't *want* to anyway; their stories have already been written and
we know them by heart. I want to see NEW worlds and stories. Besides,
most of the major movie scenes have been done already by homemade
levels; why revisit them again in a LucasArts offering?

I dunno; I for one get tired of the notion that there are only two bands
