I disagree. I would have liked DF better if it had done LESS rehashing of
old music at inappropriate times. Like the opening crawl; starts out with
the same old Skywalker theme; *HELLO* -- this game is about KYLE KATARN,
not Skywalker (Skywalker coudln't even stop a jetpackless Boba at Cloud City :)
Tie Fighter had the courage to do away with this tradition; playing Darth
Vader's theme when the crawl talks about Vader bringing justice to the
Rebel scum, and the imperial navy theme when talking about the navy.
Seeing DF regress (even slightly) back to the unimaginative cut and paste
philosophy of Rebel Assault and (to a lesser degree) X-Wing was a
disappointment. A mild one compared to the great game that followed,
but disappointing even so.

WHY?? You're not playing any of the characters in the movies, and
I don't *want* to anyway; their stories have already been written and
we know them by heart. I want to see NEW worlds and stories. Besides,
most of the major movie scenes have been done already by homemade
levels; why revisit them again in a LucasArts offering?

I dunno; I for one get tired of the notion that there are only two bands
in the galaxy (Max Rebo's, and the Modal Nodes), and that there are only
three band songs (Lapti Nek, and the jizz from the Mos Eisley cantina.)
I realize home level makers can't be expected to digitize original
compositions but I'd expect far more from LucasArts (and they've delivered,
for the most part.)
