How does the NWN interface differ from the BG interface? Particularly,
how do you view the world in NWN, as compared to how it appears in BG?

In NWN you can turn the camera 360 degrees with the arrow keys whenever you
wish (but don't worry, there's also a chase cam function that does it for
you when needed :). You can also tilt the camera up and down, so you can
view your char right from the top if you wish, or you curn turn it down to
see it like BG/Diablo/Most RTS games (but it only goes down to 45 degrees I
think. It could have been more IMO but it's no big deal).

It's a fully 3D world. You can move the camera from directly above your
character, to a 45 degree inclination from the ground. You can zoom right
out to about 20 metres from your character, or right in to about one and a
half from your character. You can spin it through 360 degrees to view your
character from any angle.

The interface is unobtrusive and smooth. Across the bottom of the screen are
12 Quick Buttons, which can perform anything. You can put weapons in there
and change weapons, or spells, or special combat abilities, or potions, or
orders to your henchmen, or special movement modes, or whatever you like.
These correspond to the F1 through F12 keys and if you hold down Control or
Shift you can get an additional 24 options. On top of this is a sizeable,
semi-transparent message window, and at the right-most end of the message
window is the camera-relative compass. In the top left corner small icons
appear in a row to show your queued actions. In the top right corner is your
character portrait, health bar, and small buttons to open all the other
interface panels. Below that, a small picture appears with a health bar and
locator arrow for each companion in your party. Interface panels open over
the top of the game world, taking half the screen usually, and are
semi-transparent. They don't automatically pause the game when you open one.

Any other questions?

However, I'd actualyl say I liked the work in Baldur's Gate 2 better. Yes,
it would have been harder to mod and probably people have this fascination
for 3d over sprites. But the drawings in Baldur's Gate, imho at least, are
true works of art. They are elegent and beautiful. No matter how well
rendered NWN looks, I still see polygons. Whereas in Baldur's Gate, I find
it far more easy to appreciate the grandeur of the world. Watcher's Keep
made me pause due to its sheer size, as did the de'Arnise keep. The Druid's
gove seems more alive, the halls of the Most Radiant Heart more.... shiny.
The Promenade the Slums... are all works of art. Compared to NWN, where the
city looks like it's built out of blocks, no matter how many of them.

I think I rambled on enough to get my point through. :)
