TIA

Hi,
Personally, I think some of Luis Royo's airbrush paintings are quite
suitable to use as character portraits. They can be found anywhere on the
web, and are rather easy to find when you search on "Luis Royo" on Google or
similar search-engine.

Royo's a personal favourite of mine too but if you're happy to prepare your
own from this work there are other artists to look out for :
Clyde Caldwell, Larry Elmore, Ken Kelly, Boris Vallejo, Hajime Soroyama,
Chris Achilleos, Don Maitz, Gerald Brom, Joe Jusko, Joseph Linsner, Julie
Bell, Keith Parkinson, Rowena Morrill, Michael Whelan, ..........
Many of them will be instantly recognisable as sources of the pre-sized
portraits you'll find around the web.

As a good starting point you could try :
http://mir.spaceports.com/~felsmann/index2.html [the Felsman collection
is excellent and easily navigated last time I looked]
or http://www.arthistory.cc/index2.htm if it's still around. Extensive
but slower to access.

I get an error message "Forbidden You don't have permission to access the
requested URL" when trying to open that page.

It is around. Fast enough for me (cable connection).

Thanks!

One site I found via Google is:

http://www.imagenetion.com/

You have to scroll down past the banner ads and erotic art section, but the
fantasy art section is very comprehensive - it includes Luis Royo and all
but a couple of the artists you named. I've got several nice portraits from
there before. I particularly like some of Keith Parkinson's:

http://www.imagenetion3.hpg.ig.com.br/jjbinks/kpark/kpark27.jpg
- male Ranger dual-wielding longswords

http://www.imagenetion3.hpg.ig.com.br/jjbinks/kpark/kpark30.jpg
- female Druid with furry friends

I used both of those in a BG2 custom party.

Yes, definitely worth a visit. There's a link to it from Dave's Arthistory
site too.

I'll second that. He's getting better and better. I hope he doesn't give
up entirely in favour of the writing. His own site :
http://www.keithparkinson.com/ is well worth a visit too. Quite a gallery
of work on view. The site is *very* professionally presented too - but then
I'd expect that from KP.

You know what may be a god idea? Take a picture of yourself (or your next
door neighbor), give it a few treatments with some artist effects in
Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro, resize it and voilá, your own, self-made BG2
portrait! And it's easier then you would think!!
