: part4
UA#18.
Urheim Has taken this area over for himself. One corner along the
east wall is piled with broken furniture and debris. The smashed remnants
of a bed, tables, chairs, a cabinet and several wooden chests are jumbled
in the corner, splintered and crushed. The shattered fragments of an Ice
Mirror lay spread among these debris. If sorted through, the PCs will
find; a Pouch containing 50gp minted in Geoff, a small coffer still
locked
with 2 dozen large gems worth between 250-500gp each. A small dagger (+1
of throwing, halfling size), also many small odds and ends are mixed in,
the personal property of Shavez the guardsman who resided here. (For
example a shaving kit, plates, a fork, clothing, a small book of poetry.,
etc...)
The cave is lit by a dozen ice globes see UA#2, all are still
functioning. Against the south wall is Shavezs long sword lying
unnoticed
a +3 defender, its enchantment can be used to adjust armor class or
to increase the chance to hit. This ability is all or nothing, the entire
enchantment must be applied to either attack or defense.
Currently occupying this room are the bulk of Urheims followers.
Urheim, Frost Giant Chieftain, HD15+5, HP(125) 110, #at1 dmg
2d10+10 when using his great axe. 1-8+10 when using his fists. He wears a
well crafted shirt of chainmail made by evil dwarves and given as a Gift
by a Fire Giant King, it has been enchanted (+1) and gives Urheim an AC
of
-1.
15 Frost Giants HD14+1-4hp HP(86) 75x15. Each is armed and
armored
None made it from the ambush unscathed.
Urheim has great plans, he would like to take on Grugnurs mantel
and become Jarl of the rift. He is very angry over the ambush and
secretly
unsure of his ability to defeat these Dragons. If he returns defeated he
will no longer be able to command even his own clan let alone gather
others to follow him. If the PCs can make contact with him he would be
very willing to set up an alliance to help fight against the Dragons,
then
he could always kill them afterwards. He would even accept the group of
Frost Giants who are wandering the area back into his ranks even though
the other Frost Giants have already branded them as cowards (they ran
away
while these Giants bravely attacked and destroyed the guardpost). His
guards have orders to report any intruders to him before leaving their
post but these Giants would kill any intruders first most likely. 2
Giants
guard each entrance into this area.
UA#19. (Barracks cavern complex)
The survivng Yeti (12 in number) are housed here. They are
feeding on the corpse of Shavez the human guardsman watching over this
area. They are shaken but Urheims dominating presence is kkeeping them
steady in morale. If they are cornered they will fight but if the Frost
Giant are not present then they will attempt to flee.
They know, from a Yeti point of view, basically the same as
the giants in UA#16. HD4+4, HP (25) 18x12
Their dominant male was killed at the mouth of the rift. So far
they have not reestablished a pecking order though they still group
together as a family unit. If they run they will stick togther, if they
attack they will do so as a pack.
UA#20. (Ice storage cavern)
This cavern is littered with broken crates and weapons. Dozens of
short swords and axes, non-magical, are scattered across the ground. 6
Frost giants have been stationed here by Urheim. 2 watch the entrance
near the ledge. They are HP(82) 74x6. There reactions and knowledge are
similar to the giants at UA#16
UA#21. (Ice Cavern)
The entrance to this cavern has been caved in. Aurora destroyed
any creatures, molds, puddings, etc.. that my endanger her children.
Caves
which were unstabled she would collapse.
UA#22. (Guard Ice Cave)
The two juvenile Dragons which lair in UA#24 & UA#25 have
turned this into their private larder. Disobeying the orders to behead
all
prey they have simply stacked their kills like cordwood against the south
wall. Beneath the bodies of Giants, caribou and yeti is the remains of a
human ranger in the service of the Grand Duchy of Geoff. While his
weapons
are not present his pack is still on his back. In addition to common
adventuring supplies is a hard wooden case holding three crystal tubes.
Each is a potion of extra healing. Around his neck is a medalion, proof
against detection or location, and the silver ring on his left hand is
of +2 protection. Both the amulet and ring are known to agents of the
Duchy and they will want them returned ( a small reward would be paid
out)
and information about the missing ranger would also be appreciated. If
the
rangers body were somehow transported back to Geoff the rangers family
and
friends would be grateful.
UA#23. (Guard Cave)
Normally left empty, 11 Ice Men have been stationed here, one
bearing an ice collar with the glyph (g#4). They are under orders to
attack any intruders who have passed more than 15ft into the cave and
pursue them unless they go out of visual range, then return to the
cave.
UA#24. (Visitors Cave)
This cave is home to a young Female White Dragon. She is loyal
to her mother Aurora but is asserting her independance. She plans to
leave
the rift with her brother (UA#25) when they are both bigger. If she comes
in contact with the PCs she will try to kill them herself but if she
takes
more than 25%damage she will try to escape, first trying to reach her
brother at UA#25 then flying home to her mother at UA#7. She doesn't have
the sense to surrender but if she is reduced to 10%of her HP or less she
will draw as far away from whoever is hurting her as she can and bury her
head under her wings while crying out and shrieking pityfuly.
She knows where her mother lairs, that an aged crone of a female
Dragon has driven her mother away from her father. That her father lairs
below. She will never tell where her brother lairs ifs she can help it
and
will not willingly reveal where her mother lairs. She would be happy to
see the aged crone killed and would direct the PCs on how to reach the
Lower Area, as long as they promise not to hurt her father. She is aware
of thge humans and the Ice Men but has never given them a second thought.
She participated in the attack against the giants and know that they have
taken over the caves on the west of the rift.
She is HD9, HP42, Ac2, breath weapon 3d6+3 #At3 dmg 1d6+3x2/2d8+3
UA#25. (Visitors cave)
The young male White Dragon which lairs here is itching to break
free from his mother and fathers rule and gathere his own treasure hoard
in a lair far away. He is loyal only to his sister and is fiercely
couragous. He will attampt to kill the PCs, or giants, intruders, etc...
on his own. If reduced to less than 20% of his HP he will attempt to
flee and warn his sister, then he will flee the rift, with or without
her. If somehow captured he will not hbe cooperative at all. Always
seeking to escape or kill his captors.
He is HD9, HP72, AC2, breath weapon 3d6+3 #At3 dmg 1d6+3x2/2d8+3
UA#26 (Visitors cave)
This is home to a female juvenile White Dragon. She worships her
mother and patterns herself off of her. If she spots PCs she will
immediately seek out her mother(Aurora UA#7) to inform her and find out
what to do. Although large and powerful she thinks of herself as a mere
hatchling. Outside of her mothers direct influence she has no self
confidence and will surrender if trapped. If she is near her mother she
will fight ferociously and with a suicidal beserk rage if her mother is
killed or injured. If captured she will not betray her mother, instead
she
forced to reveal information she will go either beserk or catatonic.
She knows where her siblings lair, where her mother and
hatchlings
lair and the entrance to the lower levels. Particpated in the attack
against the Frost Giants and knows that they have taken the caves on the
west side of the rift.
She is HD11, HP 65 AC1, Breath Weapon 4d6+4, #At3 1d6+4x2/2d8+4
UA#27. (Winter wolf pack)
These wolves all died or left the rift years ago. Only the
howling
winds or perhaps one of the wandeering monsters now inhabit the bottom of
the rift.
UA#28. (Snow Covered Dome of Ice)
Only a roofless shell now remains of this structure. Inside is a
pyramid made out of skulls. Atop this grisly structure is a glittering
skull of a Crystal Dragon.
UA#29. (white Pudding)
Aurora destroyed all creatures within the upper area of the Rift
which might pose a threat to her children. These creatures are long gone.
UA#30
The description in Module G2 still applies.
LOWER AREA
There are no Wandering monster in the Lower Area. All boulders
have been removed.
LA#1. ( Grand Entry Cavern)
This hall is lined with Ice Globes such as those found in UA#2
Once great bas-reliefs, scenes of Frost Giants in their glory, lined the
walls of this vast chamber. Now the talons of the Great Wyrm have gouged
them beyond recognition.
LA#2. (Vaulted Cavern)
This chamber appears deserted. Not a copper of the treasure
which once filled this chamber remains.
LA#2a.
Atop this ledge sits the bound form of an Adult Female Crystal
Dragon. A massive steel collar circles her neck and a chain is bolted to
the rock of the floor by a steel plate and four huge steel bolts.
Gem, AL CN, HD12, HP(76) 56, AC-2, breath weapon 6d4+6, #At3
1d6+6x2/2d6+6
Gem has been terribly maimed, both wings have been cut from her
body and she is still healing from these shocking wounds. Investigating
the rift weeks ago she was captured by the White Dragfons and forced into
this cavern. First she was knocked senseless by a Huge and Ancient Male
White Dragon. When she awoke she found herself in agonizing pain, her
wings had been carefully cut from her body. In her agony she could not
prevent the steel collar and chain from being affixed and now she is
trapped. Tormented by a femal White dragon and her brood.
She has healed some but is much weaker than when she was
captured.
Still she will be immensely grateful to the PCs if they free her and will
help them against the White Dragons without hesitation. She is extremely
intelligent and will help the PCs formulate a plan. Unfortunately she
knows very little about the rift or its occupants.
