All Usenet servers have their ups and downs

Anyone who reads this newsgroups could be forgiven for thinking that
only users of free news servers ever encounter problems.

Not so. eu.usenet-news.net is pay service. This is from my server
log:

They also sort it in seconds ...well 30 as that is what my re-trys are set
at and it always seems to get in on the next try on the few times this
shows up.

But as said I have east as a secondry backup and looking at the numbers it
has had to take 2.11 GB out of the last 200 GB block. THey are an ok
service I have no problems giving them my money.

I didn't mean that to be a complaint or plea for help. I have about a
dozen Usenet servers to choose from. When one fails another
automatically takes its place.

I simply wanted to balance things out a bit by pointing out that even
pay Usenet servers have their problems and outages.

the only way to keep a service permanently up is a cluster.
Every single host based service has some down (even if it may be really
uncommon)

Presumably that's one (or three) of the extras you pay for.

It's unlikely that all the free Usenet servers will go down at once,
so even freeloaders don't have to go without their Usenet fix. :)

quite a few people that allow 'us' the use of their servers.

So no, "even freeloaders don't have to go without their Usenet fix" :)

Its a bit harder for the bin files, but that is why I have always called
it the free server 'dance'.
