teranews question

Hi, can some pls tell me if they use teranews.com for NTTP access.
I'm thinking of joining up for the free access but they want my credit
card details. I would like to know of your experiances of teranews.com
regarding the security aspect of giving my credit card details.

When you go to their web site and click "Manage Acct," a page opens
and you enter your username and password. When your personal page
opens, it shows identifying info for you, including the last 4 digits
of the credit card. The first 12 digits are hidden with "Xs."

In other words: xxxxxxxxxxxx1234.

Why so paranoid?
As someone said, "when your PERSONAL page opens"
It is only viewable by yourself, not for anyone else.

When you sign on, you enter your CC info at a secure page,
just as ordering any other product on the internet.

If you do not like using your CC, just get rid of it, saves
money and you have nothing to worry about any more.

First: I did not call someone stupid, why call me so for no reason.
Aren't you able to discuss things in a reasonable manner.
Not everyone is always having the same views as you might have,
learn to deal with that.
Second:You argue about asking CC info because it's a free service.
So you wouldn't mind if it was for a paid service?? That I
really do not understand.

I personally never understood the security of having all the CC info
on the card (Name, CC-No., signature) so everyone is able to see
it when making a transaction where your card is physically handed
over to someone, who can see and make notes of every little
detail he might need to misuse it.

As you say: someone borrowing daddy's card can borrow daddy's drivers
license as well. The Internet doesn't have that much secure ways to
make payments or prove your legal age.
As long as there is money involved, there will always be people who
will try to make misuse of any "secure" method.
That's the only reason I said: if you think it's not save to use a CC
just get rid of it, or don't use it on internet. But don't criticise
companies like Teranews, who offer you something for free, just
because YOU don't trust them.

Just the view from a happy user of the free 50Mb Teranews account
for the last couple of months, by using my (not charged) 26 year old
Credit Card, which (until now) never has been misused by others.
