Should this patch be loaded whether you have problems or not?
I have been out of the country and came back to find out about the patch
and
the trouble at Metacreations. Geez, what a way to start the year 2000.

Thanks,
Chris

I haven't heard any complaints about the patch causing any problems.
The biggest problem I has was KPT 3 not showing up. The patch fixed
that.

Painter 6 SUCKS!!

I am one of the biggest fans of Painter 5.03, and I normally LOVE the
program, but because of this, I am very sensitive to changes, especially BAD
ones.

While running Painter 6.01 next to Painter 5.03, I have noticed that Painter
6 has seriously MESSED up their brushes and the way they 'feel'. For
instance, the watercolor brush, which I use a LOT over linework, is
seriously messed up in Painter 6. The stroke, with the SAME opacity setting
in 5 and 6, is much more ham fisted in 6 and is way too dark. The stroke
SHAPE is also screwed, where before in V5 it had a nice taper off, and in 6
it goes from thin to thick too quickly, forcing me to repaint more strokes
and mucking up my work. In a sense, they have KILLED the watercolor brush
for me, and I cannot make heads or tails of the brush settings, NOR do I
want to to fix this stupid problem.

Also, the whole program is SLOWER, and the impasto stuff is pretty uselessly
slow, even on a PII-450.

Text on a curve is neat but buggy.

PAINTER 6 SUX! It has too little value, mucked with the most sacrosanct
perfect brushes of V5, and I am very disappointed. Now it seems Metcreations
wants to quit making graphics programs? Utter STUPIDITY. Perhaps they really
don't get it, even they make one helluva good program (besides the gripes in
V6).

Painter 5 is awesome. I use other programs for web stuff (slicing)
Smartsaver is AWESOME for this.

Painter 6 is buggy and they have RUINED the feel of some brushes, and the
ghosting thing on the brushes was a dumb idea too (but you can turn it off).

Disappointed...

I installed the patch, and it works fine.... Yeah right. I have to
install painter at least every day once, sometimes 2 or 3 times a day.
It does work a bit better then at first. At least I can use the dynamic
text feature now. :)

I had a problem with painter 5.5 before. Can't really remember what it
was, (been a while) but I saw messages about the problem in this
newsgroup before. I figured out what the problems was: Painter 5.5 was
not compatible with the original HP printer driver. If I used the
windows 98 hp driver it worked fine. Strange huh? Wonder if this is a
simular problem with painter 6.01 ( I am using a HP scanner)

Heck, starting at 2X and up until 5.5, that was SOP for me.
