Is there any way to convert an image to a watercolor layer so I can
manipulate the image with watercolor brushes?

Thanks!

Hi,

In Painter 7, Layers section menu, choose Lift Canvas to Water Color
Layer.

In Painter 8, Layers palette menu choose Lift Canvas to Water Color
Layer.

Since your on that subject, does that mean, I can take any image,
promoter the WC layer and use washes etc on it, and they will effect
the existing paint? If so, this could be valuable to me.

Hi,

The Lift Canvas to Water Color Layer command allows us to then apply a
Water Color effect to the entire Water Color Layer or to paint on the
Water Color Layer as you would any other Water Color Layer.

The Wet Entire Water Color Layer command applies the current Water Color
variant and Paper texture effect to the entire Water Color Layer.
Rusults will be subtle to extreme, depending on the Water Color variant
and Paper combination and any setting adjustments made to either or
both, just as it would when painting on parts of the Water Color Layer,
except the effect is overall rather than to specific areas.

There's a lot more to learn about painting on parts of a Canvas lifted
to a Water Color Layer. The best way to learn about it is to try it and
experiment with several Water Color variant and Paper combinations.. and
setting adjustments.

Read John Derry's Visual Guide to Water Color and the Painter User Guide
for more info on the subject.
