If so, I think I'll pass for now ...
But if it does run natively in Panther, I don't think I'll be able to
resist it! :-)
Thanks for any help!

Thanks for this info. I'll certainly upgrade to Painter 8 when
I buy a new PowerMac and make the transition to OS X. That said,
I'm perfectly happy with Painter 6 on this old beige 266MHz G3
running OS 9.1--the 384 megs of RAM help. The new machine will
have a gig of RAM.
I'd like to use both versions 6 and 8 on a new PowerMac running
Panther. Is this possible? Does version 6 work in Classic mode?
Is it your opinion that Painter 8 has bugs that won't be fixed?

This is incorrect. Painter development is ongoing.

I didn't say any of that. I quoted some dude from France who said
those words.

Presumably for Mac OS X? This is from the horse's mouth, folks.
John Derry has been a core member of the Painter team from the very
beginning. He is one of the developers of Painter 8.
While I've got you on the line, maybe you can answer this question
that I asked in my previous followup: I'd like to use both Painter
6 and 8 on a new PowerMac running Panther. Is this possible?
Does version 6 work in Classic mode?
