This message was posted by Tanya Staples, Corel Painter Product Manager.
It seems that she needs to hear about **all** of the problems Painter
users are experiencing with the Painter 6.1 patch, including details
like operating system, etc.
Thanks for helping to let Corel know what they need to fix so we'll
continue to have the best software ever! :o)

Hi all!
I'm sorry to hear of the troubles that some of you have experienced
with the Corel Painter 6.1 patch. I can assure you that its my goal to
get these concerns addressed, as I realize that it has been a very
frustrating experience for you. That said, we have received a great
deal of feedback from many of you who have successfully installed the
patch and are now working with it without any issues.
I just wanted to bring you all up to speed on some of the issues that
occurred, which have now been resolved:
1) Due to the sheer volume of traffic, we did experience some lag
times, which were out of the ordinary. We have resolved these issues
and you should be able to access all of the pages just fine. In the
case that you cannot access these pages, please go directly to:
ftp.corel.com/pub/painter/6.1
2) We discovered that the .bin file on the was corrupted, which was
the reason many of you experienced problems downloading and unstuffing
the file. The .bin file has been replaced, tested, and is now working
just fine.
3) On the Windows side of things, we have determined that in some
specific cases, installing the Corel® Painter™ 6.1 patch may remove
some desktop shortcut icons. We apologize for any inconvenience this
may have caused. We have identified the source of the issue and we are
actively testing a fix, and we should be releasing an updated patch
within the next few days. In the mean time, to avoid this issue,
please remove all Corel Painter application shortcut icons other than
the one in your Start menu - Programs - {MetaCreations} - Painter 6
program group BEFORE installing the patch. Once you have finished
installing the patch, you can recreate your Corel Painter application
shortcuts as necessary. Note that if you do not have Corel Painter
shortcuts (other than in the menu system), you will not experience
this problem.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I'm now back
in the office after my 10 days at MacWorld so please feel free to
email me with any issues you find at painter@c...
Sincerely,
Tanya Staples
