One of the first internet-only art galleries. Established July 1997,
this site registers over 1 MILLION hits per year with approximately
60,000 unique visitors.
Poster sale revenue has varied from $6k-$12k annually with extremely low
overhead. However, asking price is only based on site traffic.
Advertising alone could generate enormous revenue. Site has essentially
carried only artwork that the owner likes and has not expanded to
include all available markets. Seller has maintained business on a VERY
part-time basis (2-3 hours per week max).
Website is definitely ready to move to the next level with a dedicated
new owner or acquisition by another art site. Site would be a perfect
expansion tool for a brick & mortar art shop or gallery. The site
currently offers about 100 poster prints - our distributor offers
THOUSANDS, so expansion is fairly simple.
Buyer will receive current inventory (approx $2,000), plus full transfer
of business rights and intellectual property. Seller will also transfer
existing vendor relationships and will work to maintain current credit
card processing directly through a local bank, not a high-priced
internet service. Only one chargeback ever and that was because we did
not double check the billing address before shipping. Seller will train
for 7-15 days as well as provide email/phone consultation support for 6
months. Brokers will be protected, but we will not sign an exclusivity
agreement.
Bring all reasonable offers. If asking price is met, Seller will hire
professional web developers to update site with complete backside
database management, shopping cart, and instant expansion and update
capabilities. This backside database will automatically update the
entire site each time a new work is added. The interface will be very
user friendly and will make maintaining the site extremely simple and
basically automated.
Overhead is currently less than $50/month plus poster inventory.
Mark-up is typically 100% though some pieces allow over 300% mark-up.
Individual artists have been successful in utilizing our site as a
marketing tool to generate shows and sales.
Current owner has negotiated the sale of artwork rights to an
advertising firm and also in creating cooperative ventures with a major
art publishing firm - owner receives commission on these negotiations.
At one time, the site published a successful e-Zine with approximately
500 subscribers, but due to time constraints, the e-Zine was
discontinued. This could be resurrected and could generate additional
advertising revenue while providing additional free marketing. Business
also has the ability to re-sell internet service and web hosting, though
current owner has not attempted to tap this market either.
Site currently offers poster prints by artists such as Monet, Van Gogh,
Picasso, Renoir, Kandinsky, Munch, William 'Schim' Schimmel, Anne
Geddes, M.C. Escher, plus boats, sunsets, beaches, and marine life.
