I've always been happy with a Shiraz at a BBQ.

For a fish BBQ - a Montagny 1er cru or a New Zealand Chard
if you like to be "not so run of the mill" try a south african Rose
Pinotage (if you can get hold of one...)

While visiting the Santa Ynez valley last year, I
stopped in this little gourmet market they have. I
was very surprised to find Caymus 94 Cabernet
for $36 a bottle; this was after the WS writeup. I had
some at home, so I thought it would be a good chance
to try a bottle. I bought the Caymus, along with
our picnic supplies which included bbq's ribs from
the market. The Caymus and the ribs were heavenly
together, although it kind of clashed with the
balsamic chicken salad we got.

Since most men in this group seem to feel most women prefer white wine,
I am mildly curious to see if most men also prefer blondes - not that it
matters, of course.
