[TN] A QPR GV

While recently purchasing some ready-to-drink whites locally, I espied a
cache of a wine that in previous vintages we'd liked for a very
attractive price. Tonight, with the blazing hot weather continuing, we
opened a bottle with dinner:

2006 Weingut Allram Gr�ner Veltliner Strassertaler ($7.99)
nose: green herbal, white pepper, a hint of sulfur
palate: medium body, good acidity, herbaceous, fruity

We've had a number of bottles of the '04 version of this, but this '06
is IMO a definite step up in terms of varietal character. Listed as 13%
ABV, this has got a bit more heft than the average Federspiel from the
Wachau, but is otherwise constructed along similar lines. We'll be
going back for a lot more of this as a summertime house white.

New producer to me, but will keep an eye out. Great price for that
quality!

Mark, Just curious...why don't you copy/paste/post some of your wine
notes on the other Board (WD)?

Oh, I do at times, Pete. I usually make a decision about what forum
would be interested in the wine in question. The WD crowd isn't really
that interested in low priced GV in my experience (unless it's part of
the now-defunct Chris Coad Boatloads of Cheap Crap series) so I don't
make much effort to copy my notes about such wines there. OTOH, when I
go down to the cellar and open something a bit more special, I'll
usually put my notes in several different places.
