Chickpea Spaghetti

Yeah, spaghetti (whole wheat gets thumb’s up)
2 cans of chickpeas, drained
15oz can of tomato sauce
9oz can of tomato paste
1/3 cup flour
onion powder, oregano, basil and garlic

In a bowl, mash a can of the chickpeas and mix in the flour and garlic
and onion powder. Form into balls (these are going to yr
“meatball” type stuff) and fry in oil until brown. Next
put the rest of the gradients in a pan and heat it all up. Serve them
both over spaghetti (regina from Syracuse)

Canned ingredients? Oh man. That's what you get for living on a cold,
muddy island. Anyway, your recipe was close enough to what I had last
night that I decided to share.

I'd cooked some garbanzos in the crockpot during the day (so much better
than canned). Came home and boiled water for whole wheat capellini
(angel hair pasta). Cut up some zucchini (courgette for all you
foreigners and ex pats who've forgotten what things are called), crimini
mushrooms, and red bell pepper. Sauteed the above in olive oil (buon
Italiano!). Added some of the garbanzos (oh yeah, those are what you
foreigners and yankees call chickpeas) and homemade tomato sauce (with
roasted garlic and basil), salt and pepper, and some cracked red chilis.
Let that simmer while the angel hair cooked. Added drained angel hair
and tossed lightly. Plated and sprinkled some fresh chopped parsley. My
girlfriend added some parmesan to hers (she's lacto vegetarian); some
vegan parmesan would've probably messed it up, but I did drizzle a
little more olive oil on mine (viva Italia!). It was fan-freakin'-tas-tic.

It was a dark and stormy night in alt.food.vegan. An owl was eating
surströmming, the moon was full and in a distance I heard usual
