Fellow fish freaks
Has anyone tried Ikkyu in Tottenham Court Rd. London. If so, would you tell
me if its worth a visit. Particularly, what's the sushi like. I have tried
the one in China Town and can recommend that. However, I believe the TCR branch
is very different.
Also, more generally, any other recommendations for Japanese restaurants
in London would be most welcome.
Happy eating

I have tried it once or twice it wasn't bad. The service was pretty awful, they
don't speak much english and they're not particularly accomadating. The menu was
quite interesting though, and the food was good. We eat sushi 2-4 times a week
and we only went there twice, so I guess that says something. There are some
really good places though in London. Maybe we should form a sushi group like
they've done in New York and Toronto.

If someone has already posted, please excuse me. "Wagamama" (probably
meaning "selfishness", not "my mama") is pretty cheap by the London
standards. They specialize in Ramen noodles, Gyoza, etc., but no sushi.
Seating arrangements are communal. Ramen was not bad at all. I also
ordered a large bottle of Japanese beer with "Edamame" (boiled green
soybeans in shells). Queues are always formed at the gate. Expect to wait
a long time.

Sad to say, my experience with sushi in London was uniformly awful. Tried
several places recommended by locals, all of which were disappointing. Of
course, this was two or three years ago now.
