Attention former or current fast-food worker's.. I have a question regarding
the firing policy for incompetent worker's. I'm sick of every time I enter
a store for a meal, the employee always forgets to hand me my soda cup.

My personal belief if that they should have three chance's... they forget
three times, or they fuck up a order three times, they automatically get
fired and black-listed so they can't get a job at any other fast-food store.

So if anybody knows what the actual firing policy is fo rthe individual
store's, please post it.

Their is no Black-List for potential employees that is illegal. If it was
legal your ass would never be able to get a job, because you would be on
everyone's list.

Personally, I take a certain amount of pleasure in bringing oversights
such as this to the attention of fast-food employees. I think of it
as doing my part to prepare the next generation for entering the
*real* workforce, which, they'll find, is quite a bit more demanding
than a McJob or the equivalent.

One of the most common mistakes I encounter is at a local (Bay Area)
sandwich chain called Togo's. ("To Go," geddit? No, it's not named
after the Japanese admiral, any more than Dunkin' Donuts was the
postwar investment of Grand Admiral Do"nitz.) It involves forgetting
to place napikins inside the bags of "to go" orders. Yes, there are
napkin dispensers about, but napkins are customarily placed inside the
bags of take-out orders by the sandwich makers.

Another common error, and a peeve dating back to my high school days,
is when employees at McDonald's place my eat-in order in a sack
instead of on a tray. I'll raise one eyebrow in subtle scorn, lock
the McDroid in a condescending stare, and pointedly say something to
the effect of, "Er, my order was 'for here.' I believe that means
it's supposed to be served on a tray. If that's a problem, please
call the manager over so that I might have a word with him." Works a
treeat, it does.

Just how is it discrimination? People who are imcopetant to doa job should
NOT do it. Would you but stupid people in charge of Nuclear Power plant's,
or air-line pilots? You would be okay if your pilot was a complete idiot,
becouse you think it's a discrimination not to hire him? They same logic
applies to fast-food worker's and any other field of work.

I heard that in the spirit of such bizarre combnations as A&W and Taco
Bell, they'll be merging with that Jewish deli/Sushi bar called
"Sosumi."

That's the location I'd always heard was the original.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Togo%27s

Whoa! You were serious about Dunkin' Deli. I thought you were
kidding.

Anyway, all the Web site says about the original location is:

"The first "Togo’s" was opened in downtown San Jose, California, in
1967." No mention of the specific location.

Ah, here we go: East William Street:

"Local boy makes good," what?

The first Togo's I ever went to, and the first I ever heard of, was on
Soquel Avenue in Santa Cruz, in that strip mall just west of Ocean
Street.

St. John's was founded by my first boss. When I threw the Palo Alto
Times (RIP) in Los Altos back in the Seventies, when papers were still
delivered by kids on bikes rather than by adult Latino immigrants in
cars, he was my district manager -- they guy who'd drive around in a
Chevy Suburban and drop off bundles of papers to the carriers (AKA
"paperboys").

John was independently wealthy, and held his job at the Times just to
keep himself occuppied during the day. His real source of income was
investment, or "chasing the coins," as he put it. He had a DeTomaso
Mangusta, and he took me for a high-speed blast up and down Hwy. 85 in
it one Saturday aftrernoon. That was back when 85 ended at Stevens
Creek.

The first location of St. John's was off of Miller Avenue (which
Wolfe Road becomes south of Stevens Creek) in Cupertino. That
location was a sushi place, the last I looked.

I didn't realize until just now, when I did a Google search, that the
Rusty Scupper was in the present location of the Faultline Brewery.

I used to frequent that particular Togo's when I worked at a small ISP
on the block behind it. It had an attached full bar, and quite a fine
one, at that. Alas, it's closed now.

I was interested to learn recently that a friend of mine was at ESL
that day. Not in the same building, but on the campus. Word spread
quickly, and the whole place was under what wasn't yet commonly
referred to as "lockdown." Yeesh.

I didn't know that Farley was a fan of the #24, as am I. I used to
order them on wheat, with alfalfa sprouts. For some reason, Togo's
never resumed offering sprouts after the Great E. Coli Scare had blown
over.

I remember how ordering them was a no-win proposition. If I said
"sprouts instead of lettuce," the sandwich maker would claim that that
was redundant, since they never made sandwiches with both; it was
always one or the other. But whenever I failed to explicitly specify
sporouts *instead* of lettuce, I invariably got both.

My current Togo's staple is #17, "The Italian."

FOir once I agree with you completely, even though for differnet reason's.
Of course the mistake should be brought to managament's attention, but not
to HELP the employee, but to get him removed from service so he can't fuck
up any other orders cousing major economic damage.

Well in THAT particular case, it WOULD be illegal becouse: FAT altough
true, would be discrimination. Lazy, is illegal becouse it's a lie. I work
My ass of always. And Ugly, well that's a personal opinion and even it it
was true, would be, doscrimination.

They would see you are a fat ass the minute you walk in the door. Good
luck claiming it was because you are morbidly obese if they choose to
not hire you.
