Well the sign read, "Are you Hungry? 10 Tacos for 8.90 (plus TAX) So I
guess my idea was not so far off after all.
My biggest gripe with Taco Bell, at least the local one nearest me, is
with consistency of their product. One day, I'll get a taco and it
will have a decent amount of taco filling... let's call it 'meat' for
lack of a purely technical term. The next time, it looks like the
'meat' was literally painted on with a grease brush... errr, paint
brush. I wish our TB would take a little time and train employees to
be consistent with the quantity of fillings in their products. I had
two tacos this evening and they were stuffed with 'meat'. They aren't
great for my diet, but they were sure good. :)
--
Zilbandy
I agree 100%. And they should train the employees to properly fill the
orders as well. I went to Burger King and ordered a double Whopper with
cheese and no mayo, and I said it twice, and when I got it the little mayo
jar was crossed off on the wrapper BUT IT STILL HAD MAYO!!!!!!!!!!!!! Damn
I was pissed off that entire day.
What is with mayo on a burger anyway? I know it's just my opinion, but it
doesn't belong on there. I can deal with it on a ham sandwich and it works
for some potato salads, deviled eggs, but that's it.

My wife loves mayo on hamburgers. She always orders them with no
sauce, ketchup, mustard, add mayo with extra mayo. She rarely gets
them the way she likes them, though. :(
--
Zilbandy
Mayo is the great melding agent, the middleman between the ketchup and
the mustard. I've never had a burger that was greater than the sum of
it's parts that did not have a bit of mayo on it. I hate mayo
everywhere else, but it just brings things together on a burger.

The job of an advertiser is to wrap an egregious deception in a tortilla
of truth so that the little man-on-the-street type-o-guy will eat the
whole thing. You may point to the fact that a very hungry person could
plod through 10 tacos at a relatively cheap price (I've done it once or
twice myself), but in the end, you're still swallowing a lie. No
reasonable individual would pay nearly 10 dollars for 10 tacos, with the
intent of eating them all by themselves in one meal, and not believe it
to be an exceptional occasion. Would they? It's not socially
acceptable, it's not healthy, and it make little economic sense beyond
the immediate short-term.
That sign is the fast food equivalent of a syphilitic hooker making
"come here" gestures with her finger while a blind man plays a muted
trumpet in a nearby alley, everything awash in deep red light. The
thrills are cheap and sleazy, and totally gratuitous.
Beware man!

Albert Worschey
<lol> I can't eat more than 3 or 4 of those without making myself sick
from gorging!
That's enough food for one meal for 2 to 3 normal people.
There is no rule that YOU have to eat all 10 tacos!
You can split meals.
Mom and I used to split one of those Denny's "Grand Slam" breakfasts
when we were travelling. It was perfect and saved us money. :-)

IOW, you've never had a good burger.

I have to take Jerry's side here. I *would* eat 10 of them, and I swear to
God, if I was really hungry, I could eat 15 and do the other 5 in for
breakfast.
Jerry's only a freak in that he's not a lumberjack yet eats like one.

Peas, good. Mayo not-so-good. Hey, in the words of Gwen Stefani, "I'm

I've had great ones without mayo.

Del Taco has "Taco Night" on Tuesdays after 3pm. Three tacos for
$1.09, which works out to 12 for $4.36+tax. Pity to you who don't
have a Del Taco nearby.
That's an OPINION, not a FACT. There are also no peas (thank God) in
fast food so you are also off-topic.

I can eat a 6.99 meal no problem. (double it even) Who's to say that a
skinny fuck's order like yourself's is the typical fast-food order?????????
That's all opinion and hear-say. The FACTS is that Taco Bell is offering
TEN TACOS FOR 8:90, which must be in thier opinion a typical order.
It's common knowledge, and most people agree, that you have to eat the
taco's right away or they get soggy, so your theory is false.
Steve, try to think real hard a minute. Remember back a while ago when I
said I boycotted the taco bell by my house? Well how can I get from another
taco bell to my house without driving past it? Try to remember real hard, I
know for a fact you were drinking that night irregardless I don't know
actually what day it was I said that.
Come off it, man. Accusing me of hear-say, while you're citing a
sparsely worded roadside advertisement for your shitty argument, which
you've already shape-shifted (again) to avoid anything beyond a
superficial debate. Could I have a little more constructive feedback?

The tacos are $.89 each.
There is no law that says you have to purchase 10 of them, even tho' the
ad says "10 for $8.90".
Unless you are a sucker for a sales strategy...
Yeah. No kidding.

How do you know Jerry got a DUI?

I'm reminded of current grocery store pricing techniques. 10/$10.00 comes
to mind as does 3/$4.00
I'm in constant wonderment as to how many dipshits think you have to buy
said amount in order to recieve said price.
But I digress, a genuine Mexican taco (I know you've seen 'em) is worth a
buck.

I eat the soft tacos regularly, just not as often as the hard.
BUT it's obviously the reccomended serving size, which is why they
advertised it. Why else would they have put it up?
Yes I know that, but it's reflected in what they advertise. And I noticed
you once again resorted to name calling, which means you must realized that
you lost the argument.

Jerry, you're beginning to worry me. Are you suggesting that 10 tacos
is a 'normal' serving size? The 10 pack of tacos to me sounds more
like a 'family pack'. I have been known to eat 10 tacos at a time in
the past, but then, that's why I got up to over 600 pounds, too. Trust
me, 10 tacos is NOT a suggested serving size for any half way normal
person. Dammit, Jerry! Now I want a frickin' taco. :)

Zilbandy
>I eat the soft tacos regularly, just not as often as the hard.
As long as I have two opposing teeth, I will not eat a soft taco. One
more trip to the dentist, though, I may be changing that. :( I MIGHT
eat a soft taco if it's made with a corn tortilla, but around here,
everyone seems to think soft tacos are made with flour tortillas.
Flour tortillas make burros and chimichangas, not tacos. Now I want a
chimichanga. I gotta quit reading this thread. LOL
--
Zilbandy
No, not at all Zilbandy. I normal serving size is 1 taco, not ten. What we
were discusiing is a typical taco Bell order, which some claimed here as
riduculously small (ie one taco, a nachos, and a small water). MY point is
that your average Taco-Bell customer order much more then that for a meal,
proved by what what people order in front of me at the drive-thru and inside
the store. And the fact that Taco Bell advertises 10 tacos a crack just
provides more eveidence that MY estimations are more accurate.
Peace,
Jerry
Thier not that bad, I usually get them when I in a big hurry since they
aren't as messy as the hard shell. And their easier to eat since you can
roll them up.

Jerry

<stunned look>
Are you really that gullible Jerry?
It's a standard marketing scam to get you to buy more than you need!
To get you to over eat!
Marketing is probably the #1 reason most of America is so bloody obese.
Did you ever consider Jerry that if you'd eat smaller portions, your
body might shrink and you might actually be able to keep an erection?
Most really obese guys can't. Not enough blood circulation.
You'd pass out. ;-)
I actually could eat 10 tacos, but it would take me ALL day and 3 to 4
meals!
And the majority of Taco Bell customers that order and eat those huge
portions weigh over 300 lbs.
Why why why would you WANT to eat 10 tacos in one meal? :-P
He loves a big, hard taco and a tall, stiff drink.
Damn!
It is if you are the fictional character Homer J Simpson. He can eat
all that, and more! I could probably have done that 25 years ago.

LOL, what I failed to mention in my previous post is that I would eat
10 tacos in one sitting as well as two or three half pound burros and
a bladder buster size Coke or Pepsi. Now, a taco bell splurge for me
is a couple of tacos and a single burro and a diet soda. :)

I had at least 1, perhaps 2 of their half pound burritos today, and man,
have they shrunk! They used to be the size of a 24 oz. beer can. Now
they're barely bigger than my pecker. :-(
Also I forgot to include my opinion of their tortillas in my review. Just
about the worst *ever*. Yeah, I know they don't make 'em there, but neither
does the grocery store but they can sell decent stuff most of the time.
Mebbe one of these days the ol' lady will wake up and put the pics I took

Nope, I'm down to 403, looking to break into the 300 pound range later
this month. It's been an interesting 14 months. The really good thing
is that I feel pretty good. I don't feel hungry all the time which
means MAYBE this time I have actually modified my eating habits for
good. BTW, I am still logging everything that goes into my mouth...

I've never been quite that heavy (272 was my max) but I still understand.
Permanent diet modification is indeed the key, and logging everything
keeps one honest. I need to consider doing that again!
It's also very educational. I used to track not only calories, but fat
grams, protein and carb grams, and sodium milligrams.
Cutting starch and sugar seems to curb hunger more than anything else.
Congratulations!

I've never understood the over-eating thing. I've always been borderline
anorexic. Kudos to those of you who have lost weight and can modify your
eating habits. My husband has to practically force feed me. In the past

I've been this way for years.

Are you really that fucked up? You have boobs on your posterior? Most
