"Why do the police have so many damned dogs in here?"
"They're looking for drugs, I guess."
"You think the dogs can really smell drugs?"
"Yeah, they can. Dogs can smell anything."
"But why do they care? I mean, I can see a meat sniffing dog. Dogs
like meat. But why should a dog care about marijuana?"
"'Cause the dog is hooked on drugs. They feed the dogs drugs until
they get hooked, and then the dog just goes crazy trying to find more
drugs. 'Cause he's addicted, see."
"Poor dog."
"Yeah."

Does AFU have a party line on drug-addicted sniffing dogs ? I've seen
film of airport dogs finding a suitcase with cocaine in and they ran
at the thing as fast as they could, tearing at the handle and pulling
so hard their handlers had great trouble stopping them battering it
apart. No idea whether they were addicted, but they were acting as if
there was some huge reward for them involved. Nothing at all like the
happy eager"Did I do it right ?" attitude from the pot-smelling dogs.
Perhaps even in the trace amounts present on the outside of the case,
there was enough to give a dog a good feeling.

A pessimist sees the glass as half empty.
An optometrist asks whether you see the glass
more full like this?...or like this?
The training certainly does involve being exposed to the chemicals
they're being trained to locate. On the other hand, drug dogs do
get to retire fairlyh gracefully, unlike most bomb sniffing dogs,
which (I was told my an ex-military guy who had handled them) have
to be handled very carefully, because the exposure to the bomb-
making chemicals makes them . . . strange, in a not-good way.

Jesus forgives sinners, not criminals.
On the other hand, since that's the one type of dog that's presumably
trained NOT to fetch, you and your SUV should be safe if you take him
dynamite fishing.

No doubt. (And you'd be surprised. The individual mentioned above
said he had one dog that loved the taste of C-4. Which wasn't
dangerous for the dog to eat per se, but constipated the hell out of
him.)
At least that would be better than explosive diarrhea.
With my help, you've just disproven the dictum that people who say LOL don't
actually laugh out loud....r

Not really, from what he said. Explosive laxative, apparently. And
they made him do it himself. Said he never let the dog eat the bomb
again.

I heard guys ate it to get high, as well as using it for heating
canned rations.
