Chapter 11

Tom "awoke" into the dream immobilized. He was lying on his
bed staring up at his visitor. She was dressed in a tight fitting
leather outfit with spiked boots, and she had a long whip draping at
her side. It was right out of the classic pictorial of the proverbial
dominatrix. She snapped the whip several times making sharp cracking
sounds at the end of each motion. Now she furled the whip and tossed
it behind her. She showed him handcuffs, she showed him night sticks,
she showed him an array of torture "toys" tossing each behind her into
oblivion afterwards. Tom broke out into a serious sweat. And then he
passed into oblivion for the rest of the night.
Tom awoke the next morning lying on wet sheets. He had
apparently sweat all night and he realized he felt very warm. Feeling
his forehead confirmed he had a fever. That would explain his
horrible dream and his loss of appetite the night before. Perhaps it
even explained his delusion of having seen his dream lover earlier
that afternoon.
Tom got up, took a shower, two aspirins, and picked up his
damp bedding. He slumped his way downstairs and again realized he had
no appetite. Still feeling weak and drained, he went out to the front
porch and sat on the steps. He leaned against one of the porch
pillars and stared out over the landscape. Soon, he dozed off.
"You have to tell him," the echoing voice whispered.
"No, he's not ready," another voice rasped.
"If you don't tell him now, she may win. What are you going
to do then?" the first voice insisted.
"No! She can't win. She's too old, too weak," the second
voice added.
"But she's getting stronger. Every day she gets stronger, he
gets weaker. She could win you know," the first voice persisted.
"She's not going to win again! We'll get through to him in
time. Look, you can tell, he's already aware of us. It won't be long
now. We can do it this time," the voice trailed off,
..and Tom snapped awake, shivering. He was not cold, but
still he shivered. He was sicker than he had originally thought. At
first, he started to go back into the house and go back to bed, but
then he had second thoughts. He walked around to the back of the
house where he had stored some camping gear and pulled out a hammock.
This he strung between two pillars on the front porch and he stretched
out for a rest. He told himself the outside air would help, but he
knew he was making excuses to not go back in the house.

I'm glad you've posted a few more chapters. I also hope it's not too
long before we get a few more. Just when I thought I had it figured,
you threw in another loop. So to speak.

Great story though!
