Folks,

I've recently acquired a couple of HP1000 F-series computers, and an
A700. Pics can be found here: http://www.classic-micros.com/hp1000

Unfortunately, having never worked as a sysadmin of such a system (or,
indeed, of any mini/mainframe type system), I'm at a bit of a loss as to
how to get the thing running properly.

So far, I've acquired a manual which gives the panel bootstrap switch
sequence, assuming I have the appropriate bootstrap ROM (unknown, at
this time). What I'm still lacking is knowing where & how to plug things
in; in particular, where should I connect the 7295 disk drive, and where
can I plug in a single console?

If anyone knows, I'd be most grateful. Equally, if anyone who is local
to Wallasey (nr Liverpool, UK) would like to use the machine, get in
touch - I'm not there particularly often, but would be happy to arrange
some time for someone who used to (or maybe still does!) use such a
machine to "have a furkle" with it.

HP 1000 F:
The disk drive plugs into a HP-IB (IEEE 488) controller. You need a cable
that goes from the card edge connector to an HPIB plug.
The console plugs into a serial card (sometimes called a BACI, I think).
Again, you need a cable that goes from the card edge connector to RS-232.
It has been a loooong time, but I think you boot by using the front panel to
specify boot prom, address, and possibly parameters (like slot # the disk
controller is in & maybe type of disk drive). (funny, ain't it? I used to be
able to boot those things in my sleep).
