A lot of plastics seem to develop a white surface film when old or after
being exposed to the elements. You might try coating the lures with Armor
All or silicone lube to prevent it from forming, and it should even render
any existing white film temporarily transparent. It works well for the aged

Agreed, though it's probably "true enough". With the exception of a
few Spey clubs, you just don't see a lot of double handers here. I'd
like to see more, if for no other reason than I'd not feel so wierd
about my own 14' for #12 in Colorado (I've yet to fish it but can cast
it a fer piece!)
