Three days before Spring officially starts, and we have 15" of snow on
the ground. Left work early Tuesday in hopes of getting up my hill before
it got bad....no such luck. It took us forever to get home. Yesterday,
woke up to find it was still snowing and I just sent my boss a note and
went back to sleep. Now, they're calling for more snow, but don't know
when or how much. Supposed to rain Saturday, so that should wash a lot
of it away. I have a whole bunch of daffodils coming up in the garden
and they're getting covered over. UGH

think about the others, will yer? 15 inch of snow, and rain on top? it all
has to go somewhere. what about all them poor buggers further down the line
that will get all that wet, about 6ft deep in their garden? not do their
roses any good, will it?.
seriously though, the snow has not yet finished. I suspect that we here will
get some after my birthday in April

Hopefully it will break thru the drifts before you know it. And none too

Well they lied. Spring is here in spades. Well it's warmer amyway.
Tomorrow we can expect heavy rain, which is like heavy snow but warmer and
you don't ahve to shovel it away.

Heavy rain tomorrow, more of the same on Saturday and rain but with the
'heavy' missing on Sunday. When I heard this unfortunate forecast I vowed
to take The Awesome Thing for a thrash this evening before the bad stuff
overtook our lives. Guess what? Too late. It's here. Early for sure. but
very definitely here.

Bummer.

That's more to do with BMW having a few thousand umbrellas to get rid of.

Warm spring day, good. Firm ground, BAD!

Any bets on how long he can keep it airborne first time? (Is it radio
controlled, or something else?)

The first time Cathe saw a radio controlled helicopter (about 6 yo)
it was in the back seat of a friend's car. She looked rather puzzled
so I asked why.

She said, "I always thought they were big enough to ride in..."

Another friend was giving a demo flight in a shopping center parking
lot one day and lost control (rare - he was GOOD). He told me later
that all he could think of was to try to crash it away from the crowd,
but he regained control before it came to that, and landed it with
very shaky hands.

The crowd went wild! They thought it was all part of the show.

When I said firm ground I meant not ankle deep in spring floods that
we get here. But soft ground in case it crashes. Not a parking lot.

All I remember about it is that it is 2 channel, will go up to a
height of 75 ft. and a distance of 500 ft. I think!

continue until at least Monday. Oh well, enough for Spring. Now I'll wait

Everything is done. New curtains, drapes and other things that needed
attending to. Now I can just sit back and see if the checks bounce:-))
The colors are all light and change as the daylight changes. The skylights
in the living room seem to have a way of doing this. The bedroom colors
also change as the light changes. Only the kitchen doesn't change. The
basement, which is finished, is the only room that the color stays the way
it was meant to. It was the previous owner's family room and is quite
large. He even has two fake windows backlit so you could have a romantic
dinner (ha, ha) if you chose to. You wouldn't know they were fake until you
turn the lights on and see the frosted glass that covers the concrete walls.

Now I'm starting to plan the outside flowers and statuary that I would like
to put in.

TeeHee!
Tonight
Partly cloudy. Patchy fog after midnight. Lows in the upper 50s. East winds
10 to 15 mph becoming northeast 5 to 10 mph after midnight.
Sunday
Partly cloudy. Highs in the lower 80s. North winds 5 to 10 mph.
Spring has sprung.
The grass has riz.
I wonder where the birdie is?
The bird is on the wing.
But that's absurd...
The wing is on the bird!

Don, it all sounds absolutely wonderful. I like the idea of the
changing colors as the light changes. The wallpaper we just put up is
like that.

And you've finished just in time to concentrate on the outside. :)
Good luck with the flowers. I plant them, they die. <g> All but a
few across the front of the house where we have spent a fortune on
soil, fertilizer, pine chips etc. Even so, every time we plant a bush
there it dies. I think you're going to have a very fun spring with
your garden creation. :)

Several fine McDonnell Douglas products come with IR Night Vision

Thanks Don, I didn't know that! I wonder why our nursery sells them?
And our town gives free bags of pine mulch from the Christmas trees
that they have ground up. Do you suppose we don't have termites here,
I've never heard of anyone getting them. But at any rate, this
summer I'll go back to the bark chips or cedar bark. I think the
cedar is the one that looks so orange, isn't it? It's not a color I
like.

Dalin,

No the cedar comes in brown bags. I don't know what the colored ones are,
but I think they are pine bark. Check with your Nursery and they could tell
you. My information comes from a Master who was in the gardening business
all of his life. He had thousands of acres planted in all kinds of veggies
and sold to the biggies like Campbell Soup. He also has about greenhouses
that work year around. They are and have been planting starter plants for
us to buy when Spring comes for sure and the danger of frost is gone
(normally about May 15th).
I hope this helps.

It most certainly does help Don. Thanks! It was only last year that
we spread a light layer of pine chips on top of the bark chips we have
always used in the past. But I don't know what kind of bark chips
they were, the bag was always just called bark chips. But I
definitely will check with my nursery and order the cedar chips. And
the cedar will make the garden smell nice. :)

I wonder if the cedar will keep the neighborhood cats away? They love
to dig in those bark chips!

We don't plant here until June 1st. It's always such a long wait!
This morning coming back from the store I noticed little green shoots
coming up where we planted day lilies. It's the first green I've seen
anywhere and what a welcome sight!
