In one of the papers I read online, there were some really scary pictures
from Perth and they also said that people were told to stay inside. The
Mundaring suburb seemed to be threatened, I hope it's far from Toddy.
If you haven't seen pictures from Perth in your own paper, you may see a few
here:

You don't need to understand Norwegian to have a look at a picture..
Anyone heard from Toddy since yesterday?

She was okay as of the wee hours of the morning. I hope that is
still the case.

I hope so too, I found an article in an Australian paper and they don't
mention Toddy's whereabouts:

I have been posting away, Kelly!!
The fire was close enough to cover me in ash, but the wind direction
meant that we were in the very odd situation of being close to the
fire, but the smoke was being blown all over the city.
Those photos were taken at a time when it wasn't so bad, before that
there would have been nothing to see but smoke:-((
Mundaring is about 5 minute drive from me..... it was just down the
road and we prepared to evacuate,(or stay and fight) but we were lucky
in the end. I was ready with the vital things.... and the dog, of
course..... all ready to put in the car and get out of here, but in
the end it wasn't necessary.
The fire front ended up being 150km wide......that is about 90
miles....... the fire fighters are real heroes. It went on for 6
days, and was deliberately lit. You should hear what punishments some
people have lined up for him/them!!
There hasn't been a fire like this since 1956!
It has been an experience none of us wants again in a hurry!
The only amazingly beautiful thing about it all was the red moon we
had on Tuesday night... it was stunning, really red, not orange at
all.

I'm truly glad you didn't have to evacuate and that the fire now seems to be
under control. It must have been a scary experience for many people. I
didn't know that Mundaring was so close to you, I tried to check with
Australian papers, but didn't get a lot.
I hope that arsonist will be caught and punished as he ought to be.

The likelihood is that s/he/they won't be caught.
Apparently only one third of them do end up in court. All the evidence
is burnt:-(

What a shame! They will probably start over again somewhere else.

they did catch the one over here, that set some of the big AZ/NV/CO fires a
couple of years ago. Turned out to be a Forestry Service employee!
Never did hear what the motive was; wanted to be a hero, maybe? Bad planning...

Oh, Toddy...what a terrible scare! I'm so glad you didn't have to evacuate.
The last time I talked to you, I was jealous of your warm summer....now I
wish I could send you some of this unseasonably warm rain we are getting
which is creating flood threats and avalanche threats.

What a terrible result of too much rain, first California, now you:-((
The fire smoulders on, but is no longer a problem to me..... never was
really, it was just in case, be prepared, sort of situation.
No one got hurt, no houses burnt, we were all extremely lucky.
The animals though will not have been as lucky:-((
