Hey, Janie.
Great looking art work on the back fence. Ain't it great when the plan you
have in your mind turns out to look so nice.

Very pretty, Janie! Your puzzling as to what made you do it reminded me that I
obsessively painted a mural in our bathroom 30 years ago. I didn't understand
the compulsion either...

Then there was the time I stayed up all night making a fullsize bunny suit...

Janie what a lovely job you did on your fence. Beats looking at just plain
old wood. BTW where did you find the lovely stencil. I could use it on the
back of my neighbors wood fence that faces my back yard it's coming apart
and looks tacky. I could make it look better. :-)

I got the stencil with the purple flowers at Wal-Mart. Only I added
touches to it. The hibiscus ones I think I got there too. My friend came
in from Georgia today for awhile and loved it. She and I went swimming
and she said, "I could live in this pool and look at your art work all
day!" lol I told her we wouldn't be just old prunes then, we'd be
shriveled up raisins! lol

Thanks, Dalin. The quilt is one of my favorite things too. My great aunt
did most of the top but I finished it then quilted it. I love looking
at the squares in it. It has some of my baby clothes in it, some of
David's, some of Al's shirts, one of my maternity tops and I love to
wonder who wore the dresses and shirts from the other blocks. All the
blocks came from clothes people had in the family.

Do you use it Janie, or is it just for show? When we were first
married David's mother gave us a quilt that was made by his great
grandmother. She had just finished the top. So my mil got some
ladies from the church together and they put the bottom on.

We wore it out. We were young and dumb and so poor, and we never
thought of it as a family heirloom but more a warm blanket for us!

We never knew the story behind any of the material in it either.

for your fence. I've never given it a thought to look at Wal-Mart. Course
I don't shop there much cause I have to drive quit a ways.

I use it only if it's cool in the family room and I'm watching TV. I
have been known to use it when I'm napping but I take very good care of
it. I feel like I am surrounded by love when I use it. I wash it only in
cold water with Woolite, on gentle cycle and spread it over a chair in
the sunroom to dry.
I practically live in that sunroom!

I know this has got be a dumb question, but what type paint did you use?
Love the way you did it...want to come to Texas and do mine if the granddaughter
doesn't? <g>

I've got one of "those" fences and my granddaughter wants to paint it...and I
want her to...nice place for her to practice.... I'm going to make me a place in
the yard for just me...a get away, serenity place...a place to just sit and read
and enjoy flowers, birds and peacefulness....BUT that fence needs something
done.
My sil is a retired art teacher and she has a fence on one side of her yard that
she painted flowers on and has some sort of India dressing and all hanging on
it..looks beautiful....

I used just plain acrylic paint I bought at Wal-Mart, in the small
bottles in the craft department. The only one just a tad different is
the purple, which is a purple metallic paint, also bought at Wal-Mart in
the craft section, same as the others. I sealed the paints after all was
dry. I tried the spray on sealer which I didn't care for because it left
the surrounding area dark. SO, each flower and leaf you see I had to use
a paint brush on to paint a liquid craft sealer, also bought in the
craft section at Wal-Mart. Even so, I will probably have to touch it up
next Spring and apply more sealer. Mother Nature will see to that. lol
It was a lot of work but worth it. Still don't know what compelled me to
do it, tho! lol

Was it hard painting on the board fence?
Did you have to put a sealer on first?
