Hi guys. Crazy times, but I'm back -- if anyone even remembers me. What is
the December challenge? Could someone please post it for me? I can't seem to
find it anywhere.

Hi Darren,
Welcome back. This is a repost of the Dec Challenge:

December Challenge.

Scope for imagination here. I'm one of those challenge setters who likes to
leave room for maneouvre.

2,500 words. I want to walk away from the story thinking it's finished. I
don't want the arty, disconnected ideas we've had in a couple of challenges
this year. I want you to tell me a tale. Beginning, middle, end.

Take the first letter of your own maiden name (if female) or your mother's
maiden name (if you're male) and click the appropriate link below.

Your story should start with your character in or observing the scene in
that painting. You can update the scene to modern times by all means
(clothing etc.).

During the course of the story, your character should be in or observe the
events in one of the other paintings listed - any one.

That's for your first entry. You can have three. For subsequent entries ANY
two pictures can be used - one to start, one to include. No other rules.

Don't tell me what pictures you are using. One of the ways I'll be judging
is whether I can recognise the two paintings from your description alone.
There'll be an overall winner and a "first entry" winner - the entry in
which you use the maiden name. You can cheat of course - only you will know
if you do - and that should be more than enough to stop you.

Hope you enjoy it.

Hi Andrea,

Thanks for reposting the December Challenge. I missed it the first time
around (along with a lot more).

One of the problems that arises when posting long URLs is wraparound, where
the URL takes up more than one line. You can avoid that by using:

http://tinyurl.com/

Hope this helps.

Hi doc, yes, I should probably have specified I was reposting Alaric's
challenge... I do use tiny url often when i have a really long wrapping
name, and i agree it works well. thanks.

Dang. I should have known it was Alaric's; it's December, after all. I also
seem to have a dim memory that you've used tinyurl before. Sorry about
that.

Can I change my mother's maiden name? There's something about snow-covered
mountains that freezes my soul and makes me want to hibernate.

Well, do a two line story for your first entry, then for the next one you
can use any pictures you want <g>.
