We went live to day at 5 Eastern. I still have a few things to add,
Meta information to complete, message board, LOTS more pages for his
extensive anthology, more hand-painted artwork, a flash-driven
interactive interface for the Index page, y'know, the basics. But the
shell is done, and that was the most important. Now I have time to
tweak. So if you see blips, typos or cookie crumbs, by all means tell
me so I can make the improvements.
Mr. Walker was so pleased, he offered me a marriage proposal.
And now if you will excuse me, I've had 5 hours' sleep since Tuesday
trying to meet today's deadline, literally, and am going to let this
Vodka lemonade lull me to sleep in a hot bath.
I owe some major critiques, and a WestyB challenge. They will be
forthcoming in the next week. My deepest apologies for falling behind,
but, I'll get there.
Oh, and view the site with your sound up for the flash.
Thanks everyone.

Shove it, gramps.
Oh, you two. Love to sit between you both in some saloon. Would be an
indelible evening.
Anyway, back to Opus. very beautiful site. Did you do the graphics?
The X-ray looking one is particularly great. What web authoring
sofrware do you use? What illustration and painting tools?
Marriage, huh?
Careful, sweetie. My opinion, of course--and don't want to be
insensitive to anyone's religious beliefs--but I'm a huge supporter of
cohabitation test runs. A year at least. This catholic boy had to do a
great deal of lying to the monsignor in order to get the okay for
being wed in his church. I think he was suspicious, because he
mandated that we go to Marriage Encounter.
At any rate, good luck, girl!!!

Well, as for web authoring, right now I'm really into Namo.
http://www.namo.com . Using version 5.5, and if there's something I
need it to do that it won't, I'll put up Notepad and hand-code it. Used
to do that with javascript until they came out with some time-saving
tools. I'm of the old-school: if you can't do it by hand first, then
it doesn't count to use a utility to do it for you. I much prefer to
play an acoustic piano to the electronic keyboards.
Anyway, now graphics -- that's what makes my mouth water. It's the
reason I DO web-design, really. Well, that, and I can do it in my
Scooby-Doo boxers at 4 in the morning if I want, which is generally when
I do my best stuff anyway. I'm a vampire... Usually the client gives
you lots of creative leeway in that arena. Software I use are listed on
the index page of my graphics site, but I love to talk about it, so I'll
give em to you:
Paint Shop Pro, version 5.03. They are now up to version 8, but dammit,
again, I believe people just upgrade without generally taking the time
to LEARN what the program can do, so I run what I've got to death. PSP
is also my main and favourite one. http://www.jasc.com
Photoimpact 5. Again, a great program with a higher learning curve, but
it, combined with PSP, make for a low-end program comparable to
Photoshop, for oh, about $870 cheaper. http://www.ulead.com Chinese
independent company with little exposure, and that's a damn shame.
Bryce 4. I did the graveyard scene in the flash opening in Bryce. LOVE
3-D graphics. And it's again, an earlier version that I got just last
year from eBay. Couldn't see paying $400 for the newest version when I
just didn't know the basics, so I dropped $40 on it.
KoolMoves 2.60. GREAT little low-end Flash utility. It's how I do all
my flash. And again, 39 bucks.
(I'm really into cheap for all this stuff. Chuffs me when people get
all excited about bells and whistles, when they don't really know HOW
something works or HOW to do it from the basics.)
Painter 6 and Painter Classic. That's how I do all of the hand-painted
graphics. That cartouche was just a piece of black and white clip-art
until I threw it into P6. The brushes and fantastical. Again, I
dropped 29 bucks on Painter Classic from eBay, and $40 on P6 on eBay.
Classic I now reserve for particular effects. For instance, it's got
probably the best gold leafing effect I've ever seen.
Blade Pro. A Photoshop beveller plug-in. Creates realistic textures,
too. I've even designed some of the textures and pre-sets.
http://www.flamingpear.com
Eye Candy 3. This is a Photoshop plug-in that is invaluable for
realistic glass, fire, fur, bevel effects, etc. I wanted to get
EyeCandy until version 4 came out, at which time version 3 dropped in
price from $399 to free. No shit.
Kai's Power Tools, versions 3 and 5. The shapeshifter effect in v. 5 is
just fucking unbelievable! The ONLY plug-in utility that will do
realistic metal. For the heavy-duty metal or glass stuff, I revert back
to Bryce.
I use Tierazon Fractal Generator for a lot of my web and ethereal
graphics. http://www.opusgraphics.net/websets.html I used Tierazon on
the Featured web-set, and I've yet to get the rest of my web-sets up; a
lot of them I've started with a fractal and turned into something
someone could slap on a web-page for free. Since I'm a math geek, I
LOVE the idea and implementation of fractals. A complex set of
mathematical formulae, they create a design that literally, if continued
to be zoomed in on, will fold in on itself and repeat into infinity.
Fascinating!
I use the Wacom Graphics' Tablet for all of my painting. It includes an
actual pen and mousepad and really saves wear and tear on the arm if
your painting technique is less than desirable, and cuts down
drastically on Carpel-Tunnel.
I started to learn Illustrator at one time, but the learning curve was
too large for the amount of time I had to learn it, and I found Painter
right after that, so it fit what I needed. I think with the onset of
Corel Draw's most recent upgraded release, Illustrator is kind of
becoming obsolete and too expensive for what its competitors offer now.
It's amazing to see how quickly the technology in graphics changes.
I started drawing when I was 12. Had a natural gift for it, so I've not
formally trained. I have had a crush on colour for years, though. But
because of that love, I took a computer art class in college -- on an
AMIGA, no less. And it's really cool for me to see how easy things are
now, and how different they were then. You actually had to define the
points you wanted for a gradient. And now, you choose the colours and
go to it.
Thanks for ax-ing! I love this stuff.

Not to worry, Bob. I'm sure he was being cheeky, and I'm just TOO into
my Harley biker guy right now and too blissed-out to look at anyone
else. I'll post a photo of him soon for you. Andrea thinks he's quite
handsome. <G>
But thank you so much for your concern, dood. Means a lot.

Thanks. I can't wait to see just how many inquiries begin coming in now
that Robert's really pushing and promoting the site. Joe Konrath has
been a big help in promoting Robert, too, and Robert thinks Joe is the
cat's meow. So, it's all good.
And now, I'm off to enjoy some quality Sushi and Sashimi.
Good evening to you, my friend.

Lol. I got around that by keeping my condo & paying for it to sit empty
during the year I lived with my husband. I had a separate legal residence
even though I only went there occasionally to dust. Since my father in law
was a church trustee he didn't look too closely <g>.
And I second the livewith motion -- only I suggest, _two_ years.
