Diluting hair color to refresh ea. mth?

color and shine. But I know this beautiful color is going to fade quickly
because reds always do. Has anyone ever diluted their hair color--use half the
amount of color mixed with water-- so you can freshen up your hair more
frequently? It would be like an enhancing rinse?
Color conditioning shampoos and conditioners will never make my hair look this
good.

to make them work....they also get activated by the oxygen in the air so
left exposed they do their thing and then are no longer useful...mixing with
water may get them to stain the hair a bit but it won't last and would be
unpredictable.....the color enhancing products use different dyes and are
made to last longer......be predictable, etc......you can mix the color with
a 10% solution of peroxide and that will make the pigment stronger, be more
of a deposit only type of color and will not lighten hair very much if at
all......that used to be a common practice in salons but now professional
color companies make the same colors in permanent dyes and demi-permanent
dyes...the demi's being used for refreshing as they are less
damaging.......I hope this helps some

I've used equal amounts of color and developer mixed with just a
small amount of mild conditioner. I wet my hair, squeeze out a lot of
the water, then apply the mixture like shampoo. I leave it on anywhere
from 15 to 30 minutes, maybe even longer, depending on what else I'm
doing at a time. Then I rinse and apply something like Feria
conditioner, or BioSilk Sealer. This works great for me, a LOT better
than any store bought color enhancing shampoos or conditioners.
