A friend's twentysomething daughter is very artistic and loves make-up. Her
goal is to do make-up for stage or screen. Can any of the pros out there
suggest how she can learn about it? She lives in close proximity to NYC...are
there any courses or training available? She is not interested in going to
cosmetology school.

Thanks!

Yeah, she needs to apprentice with a professional makeup artist eventually.
Best to start with some makeup classes (NOT cosmotology), then just DO makeup.
The more faces she works on, the more confident she'll get. Great to work with
photographers, etc. Even counter work so she can gain access to many different
faces. Once she's confident, she should try to get work as an assistant to an
established makeup artist, and assist on commercials, films, etc. Worked for
me : )
