I just got up. Wearing the clothes I slept in:
Harvard T (but of course I went to Yale--I've had this t for about 10
years, must say it's lasted well)
black sweatpants
black cotton socks
(it was COLD last night!)
Later, I will motivate myself to tidy up the spare room as we have a
friend coming from London to stay for a week ... I will probably be clad
in a similar outfit.
Happy New Year, all!

A "comfy" day catching up on paperwork....
white longsleeve t-shirt, CK jeans, purple socks
and white Nike air sneakers.
I might try to squeeze in a little inline skating later if
the streets are dry enough. Switching to purple supplex
leggings for that and a light green oversize t-shirt with a
purple supplex running bra under.

Happy New Year!

Lots more rain with serious local flooding and mudslides. Its really
a mess out here in No. Calif. As I pen this note, another big band
of showers is moving into the Bay Area. They even activated the
Emergency Alert System to alert everyone to the various flood
warnings.

To stay warm on such a rainy day I'm wearing a cotton Henley tee in
brick from Macy's Charter Club line; a warm knit cotton, button front,
near ankle length skirt in navy blue with a pattern of small flowers
in buggundy, outlined in white from Elisabeth; navy Hanes SR hosiery;
navy flats from Connie; a necklace of glass beads in pinks and browns;
gold hummingbird cutout dangle earrings with French hooks; Estee Lauder's
Desire Red lipcolour and Scarlette lipliner; Ysatis cologne by Givenchy.

We've had less rain in the central part of California but there are
flood warnings this evening.

Its Friday (but it seems like Tuesday!...and another relatively easy day,
chasing papers, preparing a client presentation, and maybe an easy evening
at the movies with friends after dinner.Starting out cloudy, and becoming
sunny this afternoon, with highs expected in the mid 60s!

White ribbed mock-turtleneck ribbed cotton shortseeved top (JCrew); black
suede leather a-line miniskirt (mid-thigh); matching black leather vest
(tunic-length); white cotton hiking socks; tan/brown LLBean "Town & Field"

Hope the nasty weather abates soon for Sheila and all our friends on the

Its Saturday, and I can't believe its already January with the weather as
warm as its been! Another day in the 60s, with some sun and clouds in the
forecast. <sigh> Guess we should really count our blessings, considering
*last* winter, and all the problems recently on the West Coast. A day of
chores ahead, including buying tires for the Honda, and then some sort of
as-yet-undefined entertainment this evening with friends...

For chores: White cotton jersey tee (shortsleeved, scoopneck); black
cotton twill skirt from Jordache (2" off knee); red plaid flannel shirt

For tonite: Dark blue/teal silk blouse (shortsleeved); black suede

What? Somehow I picture you in a cashmere robe over your silk jammies. I think you
should look at this as a lacuna in your wardrobe and power up that charge card.

Yesterday, I sat on the couch at home, with my knee wrapped in ice packs, for much
of the day. I knit, read, and tossed the dog's ball for him. I wore black leggings,
a somewhat tattered turtleneck (used to be royal blue, at the start of its long
life of service), pink sweatshirt (used to be white, but you know how these things
go), and bright blue heavy socks.

Today, it's ivory opaque tights (don't shave my legs much in the winter so have to
cover that hair somehow); olive brown skirt, 2" off knee; blue ace bandage; ivoryu
ribbed silk turtleneck; "Chanel" jacket of a multi-colored basket-weave wool with
olive brown braid at all edges.
Jewelry is my mother's pearl necklace and earrings, given to me for Christmas.
I remember helping my Dad pick them out when I was a kid, and I've longed for them
ever since. I was speechless! And still am overwhelmed by the gift.
My New Year's Resolution is to wear make up (!!). Starting out easy and on the
minimal side, I wear MAC eyeliner (damn, can't remember the name. It's the darker
of the two browns - cocoa? espresso?) and MAC Del Rio lipstick. Under Sheri Fox's
benign but undeniable influence, I'm also wearing nail polish. Not the gorgeous
Ciel de Nuit she gave me, but Chanel Garnet Metale (I think that's the name. Garnet
red with gold undertones flashing througout).

- Carla, who is sure that everyone is staring at her fingertips, lips, and eyelids.
Breaking into this at 46 is a bit intimidating for me.
