Im curious to know how much do makeup artist make? You know the ones that
work at the beauty counters in department stores. How long is training.

not to be a stickler, but the women who work the beauty counters at
department stores are not make-up artists, they're beauty associates.
Depending on the company/product line, training can be anywhere from 1-3
months. Training involves, product knowledge colour theory, make-up
application, and sales techniques. Wages vary according to experience and
location, but at entry level, are usually consistant with general retail
sales. If your interested in make-up (which I assume you are) it's a great
way to get into the industry. I call it 'Play for Pay'! Good Luck!

That isn't always so. I know many makeup artists who work cosmetics counters
because it helps pay the bills. This certainly isn't the rule, but more MAs
are taking counter jobs as their "day" job.

Agreed...Sorry to have generalized, but often people mistake cosmiticians
for make-up artists. Just a sore point...
