Just wanted to let everyone know that Hecht's is having a big clearance sale
on shoes. The prices have been cut big time and they are buy one get one
free! I got a pair of Steve Madden mary jane mules in a medium brown color
and a pair of Skechers clunky dark red mary janes for $39.99 all together.

The KMart near me is closing and having the resultant sale. I picked up four
shades of the Almay cream shadows and a backup Aquasmooth.
I had a coupon for the foundation and the clerk told me they are still
accepting manufacturer's coupons, so if anyone wants to brave the crowds and
the lines (and the mess! It was a disaster!) for bargains with this weekend's
newspaper coupons, there you go.

I went to Walgreens intending to buy some ibuprofin and somehow ended up
spending $50. Hmmm.

- yet another box of L'Oreal Couleur Experte, this time in 5.0 Caramel Glaze.
One, because I wanted to try another shade (I like Brioche but I think it's too
light/red for me in the long run) and two, because I live in fear of this stuff
being hard to find once the word gets out! And like a dope, I forgot to bring my
$5 coupon! D'oh!
- Dove Volumizing Color shampoo
- Garnier Fructis Fortifying Shampoo for colored/permed hair
- Revlon Moistrous lipstick in Chocolate Drizzle (love the plum shade I already
have; unfortunately, this stuff suffers from the same malady as the new
Colorstay nail polish - not enough shades!)
- L'Oreal Crystal Infinite cream eyeshadow in Crystal Bronze
- Scunci detangling comb for DD who somehow lost her other one
- ibuprofin (oh yeah!)

I caved. I bought the Avon Peony Musk. What's worse is that
I bought the shower gel that went with it! I was horrified there
might be a lotion, too, but I was at least spared that. Fortunately,
none of these are designer-cost items. kayper

I can't find the "what did you get in the mail" thread so I'm just going to

-From a swap, got the HC Liquid fragrance. It's nice!

and I ordered:

Also ordered 100 empty lip gloss pots from www.stuffjulielikes.com to keep

I caved and bought the Dove Moisturizing shampoo. Used it on my hair before -
we'll see how the results are!

Got some new Garnier Fruit shampoo too. Why? The color of the bottle
attracted me. I'm such a marketers' dream.

Also got the NARS Exhibit A blush. I think I liked it at Sephora; hopefully
I'll like it home as well.

Kim: Wasn't it you (forgive me if my memory is incorrect) who bought all those
rubberized plastic purple cubes from some closeout place that held nine
lipsticks a few years back? I'm still using those and they are terrific, but I
don't have enough room in my drawers for them all.

At Nordstrom...

- I got the new Bobbi Brown bronzer/blush duo in the light bronze/pale
pink version. Used it today. I love having brush AND bronzer in one
convenient package, and the Pale Pink is one of my favorite shades. Only
used a touch of the bronzer today, so I'm not sure how much I like it
yet. I've never used Bobbi's bronzer before; it looks so dark in the pan
(even the light shade) but I'm hoping it goes on very sheer.

- Also got a Soothing Face Tonic and one of the extra-large sized
Protective Face Lotions. I thought that only NM was carrying these but
Nordstrom apparently had them too. They only had two left and I got one
of them. Hurray! I use this SPF every day so this was a good deal for me.

- Almost bought another Even Finish Oil-Free Compact Foundation in Warm
Ivory (that would have been my third), but I let my friend Kim buy it
instead since they only had one in our shade left. I have about three
weeks left in my current compact, while she only had about three days! So
I made the sacrifice. Ha!

- A gorgeous red leather croc-print wallet by Monsac.

At the Chanel counter:
-- got painted up like a clown by the counter manager. I don't think "clown"
was the look she was going for, but that's what it turned out to be.

But no matter. I still found things I liked and I think they'll work nicely
when used with a lighter hand. I bought:
-- T-Zone Mattifier. Not that I haven't already tried every mattifier on
earth, but this one actually worked over makeup, so what the heck.
-- Age Control Eye Cream. Okay, in the midst of my everlasting oil slick, I
actually suffer with dryness around the eyes.
-- The new eyeshadow quad - it's the one with an opalescent white, soft pink,
peachy buff, and a gorgeous shimmery taupe
-- Lipstick in Pulsion
-- Ovation Glossimer
-- Force Glossimer

If the swatch on sephora.com is accurate, I probably would have loved Black Tie
Glossimer, but they didn't have it, which is probably heaven's way of putting
the brakes on my shopping spree.

Also, at the risk of inflaming our resident pnaty-trolls, I went to Victoria's
Secret and bought some unmentionables.

I'm off to find a chisel to try and scrape off some of this spackle...

It was bargain shopping day for me!
Target, clearanced to under $5: Tigi Spray Wax. Also various boring shower
gels, etc.
TJ Maxx: Demeter set of Sugar Cookie in the big bottle, Graham Cracker, and
Brownie. Clearanced to $8. Also, I picked up an Oscar De La Renta scarf,
again clearanced to $8, so I need help with wearing it (I'm not usually a scarf

Komenuka Bijin is indeed good stuff and I'll probably get some more
too when the weather turns warmer and my skin gets a bit oilier and in
need of a more scrubby type cleanser.

Orgasm is one of my staples for warm weather b/c it makes me look like
I have a natural, not fake tan. It looks so warm in the container yet
seems to work on many people w/ different types of coloring. It's
amazing stuff and I hope NARS never discontinues it.

Glad you're enjoying the goodies Stacy!

I'm a tad miffed that my Target still hasn't gotten any of the Tigi
products. Or the new Great Lash.

Today I bought a new table for the dining room and 7 new chairs.
Now I am on a mission to find the 8th chair. I also looked at some
new rugs for the master bedroom and #1 daughter's room. I think I
will call these new purchases my anniversary gifts and if I do end
up buying the rugs I will call them birthday gifts to myself.

I went looking for a present for the 17th anniversary of TSMIM's and my
first date. I went into the Hermes boutique and looked around--saw things
I'd like for me, but nothing for him. (The SA let me fondle a

Ended up at the Rue Royal where I bought him four crystal Old Fashioned
glasses--clear except for a row of ovals cut into the base. They have such
nice things in that shop ... Christofle, Bernaudaud, Limoges ... I
have to stay away from these French companies. I wanna go back to Paris,

The last time I was choosing a Chanel foundation, one of the Chanel MA's asked
if I'd like her to apply the color we chose all over my face. She did, and
added blush. Although she applied the blush conservatively, when I got home
and saw the amount of foundation I'd been walking around the mall with, I was
glad I hadn't run in to anyone I know. She had it caked on to the point where
it looked like I was wearing a mask. I've noticed that many of the Chanel MA's
wear a very heavy coating of foundation consistently, and this should have been
my clue to check out the application as soon as I left the Chanel counter.

Yesterday Joe sent me on a quick 20 minute trip to Ulta to see what I could
come up with for our anniversary (he's getting computer stuff):
Walked out with:

Trucco set ($25 on clearance for 12.50)- Gypsy Rose Divinyl, Rosewood liner,
Honesty creme lipstick

Trucco set 2 ($30 clearanced to 14.99)- Luster shadow, Licorice liquid liner,
Spy Red lipstick

Girl Cosmetics set ($35 clearanced to $10)- Eyeslick (clear eye gloss), Belle
slip gloss, Dutchess Satin eyeshadow and Customized glitter in Ruby (this is on
Sephora still at the $35 price)

Trucco Matte shadow, Creme Soda, clearanced to 6.25

Ulta Suede palette, clearanced to 12.50

and my only full priced purchases, all Pupa:

Tricot Creamy shadow, 03- duo consisting of one large cream shadow and one
small powder shadow

Tricot Lip Cream, 04, consists of one swirled lip color and one gloss

Tricot Compact Shadow 02- one large pale shimmer shadow, one smaller medium
shade shadow

These were in autumny shades, but will work well with my red hair.

Also got a GWP of Pupa Flex mascara from the wonderful MA there.

(for those Atlantans, this was at the Ulta near Perimeter, they had a TON of
clearance items)

coordinates. I see yoga clothes as a definite trend and these were so
soft and inexpensive. I also bought new navy shorts. I was impressed

Audrey as I looked through some catalogues and magazines last night, I am
thinking yoga clothes is new terminology for what I have always called workout
sweats, workout clothes etc - guess they just needed a new name.

I recently purchased an outfit of a super synthetic fabric with a stripe up the
side and a same fabric hooded top - looks like what I have always purchased to
work out in but they were called yoga clothes.

Perhaps if they change the name to something a little more sassy and different,
the consumer will purchase a whole new workout wardrobe. Buyer psychology huh?

Definitely. These pants aren't as fitted as workout sweats. They
have a roomy cut and the legs are wide. My pants are a synthetic but
the coordinating top is about 90% cotton and then 10% nylon. I

given that a. I live in a room the size of a shoebox and if I squeeze in

*Two headbands, each marked down from $18 to $2.95 (!); one is dark red

And although I think I stopped in every store we walked past on the way

Great shopping day!!

Won on ebay this evening:
*Taryn Rose black Kristy shoes - they look like mary janes with a 1 inch
wedge heel. I've been wanting TR shoes ever since I tried them on (and
after fig raved about them too)...they truly feel like you are walking on
clouds. The auction ended at $81, and the retail is wayyyy more than
that!! I probably earned about $200 cofarbucks since I'm taking some off
since they are only slightly worn. :)

From Target:
*black cargo pants that are basically knockoffs of the ones from Joie that I
wanted (seen on shopbop.com), except they don't have that white stictching
that Joie has. Luckily I prefer them without the white stitching. The
Joie's are around $120 and the Target ones are only $20!!
*Vaseline Healthy Hand Essentials lotion - came with a free travel size
tube. Lemminged from Heather's rec that it makes nails strong. I like the
scent of this lotion and hope it works for me in the long run.
*Revlon new Colorstay foundation in Ivory - can't wait to try it tomorrow!

It's my 4th day of house arrest. The children are off school again tomorrow.
I've started shopping online.

Today from eBay:

Mac Colouring Stick in Delusion, which is described as a pink with gold
irridescence.

Lancome Stick Express foundation in Pale 1 -- I'm taking a chance since I'm
going on gut instinct on this color, but the price is so right I can't turn it
down.

OTOH, DH sniped a targa band for the little car, which he might turn around and
sell at a hefty profit, so I don't feel badly at all for spending bucks to keep
myself sane. =)

At Tarjay (which is full of very cute shoes and accessories right now, BTW):
- tan suede flip-flops with warm-colored chunky stone beads on the straps
- white leather and tan suede sandals w/criss-cross straps, toe loop and 1-inch
stacked heel
- really cute slides, wide brown suede strap with cutouts and embroidery, faux
wood 3.5-inch wedge heel
I tried on many pairs of pants but they all made me look like I had the World's

At Old Navy, where I also tried on many Huge Ass pants:
- putty-colored drawstring shorts

At TJ Maxx:
- navy blue slip-on Chucks, to go with the red ones I bought last week
- Max Studio stretch jeans that fit me and my massive ass like a *glove* (in a
good way!) Original pricetag says $148 - I got them for $30! Yeah!
- truly lovely silk scarf by Echo, black opaque stripes alternating with black
sheer stripes for the background, foreground has golden-tan stylized flowers
with sage green centers and leaves/stems - this was on clearance for $5!
- Perlier Honey Body Cream, 4.2 oz tube for $4.99
I freakin' love TJ Maxx!

At Ross:
- light tan ribbed cap-sleeve shirt w/white trim and snaps at neck by Weavers Girl
- Gap denim capris w/small flaw in denim, $10.99
- Express putty-colored drawstring capris, no flaws I can see, $12.99

While home in the bosom of my family I stocked up on some USA treats:

Suave Naturals Conditioner--Aloe Formula

Lots of people are raving about this on curlygirl.com and I wanted to try it
out. I liked the formula.. not too thick or goopy. Also want to test out the
coconut, but that's another trip home I think.

Great Lash Very Black mascara

Eh... not too keen really. I'll have to give it another go but it didn't seem
that much blacker and the formula is quite thin and dry. Might work as a light
second coat.

Colorstay Foundation (new formula)

Really impressed with this after one wearing. Lovely color too--Buff was
perfect for me.

Covergirl Midnight Blue automatic liner pencil

This was one of the Navy recommendations made to me in my search for the
ultimate navy pencil. Yick--too pastel-y "blue". I need a navy that's very
close to black, or a slate grey. I don't like obvious blue tones around my
eyes at all.

Volum'express mascara, curved brush

We have this in England but it's a lot more expensive. I picked up a tube while
I was home... I know I like it.

Devacurl products, Devachan salon

I ordered this from England and had it shipped to my mom. I got the No Poo,
One Conditioner and Angell gel. They're all wonderful products. But they're
kind of a pain to order. They need a website!

I was totally bummed to realize that I forget completely to check out the
Maybellline Wet Shine Diamonds lipstick and lipgloss colors when I was there.
Ah well--I'm going back in May, so I'll have to remember then!

I braved the strong winds in Chicago to go to the "American
Squirrel" store and buy a birthday present for a little friend of my
daughter's. I bought the present, an AG birthday card, and a roll
of AG wrapping paper, (BTW, this is on-topic because I bought an outfit!)

Then I went into the Polo store and bought my son a rugby shirt, a
zip-neck sports shirt, and two pairs of socks. Eyed but did not get close
to the women's fashion. FWIW, the stuff inside is much nicer than the
ridiculous crap in the window displays. Example: the window that
fronts Michigan Avenue features a multi-colored crochet tube-top and
a sheer prairie skirt with an assymetrical hem and about five tiers of
ruffles. Each is bad enough on its own, but the combination is execrable.

Went to NM to get out of the way and check out the new Lulu
pocketbooks. On the way my AG shopping bag tilted and the wrapping paper
rolled out into Michigan Avenue and into ongoing traffic. Because the
wind was so strong, it rolled and rolled, getting run over by a bus and a
couple of cars while I waited for the light to change. Finally I could
enter the crosswalk, but the tube rolled away from me. A nice man coming
in the other direction scooped it up and handed it to me--a few people in
the crowd cheered and applauded. And they say chivalry is dead ...

At NM the Lulu Guinness embroidered with lily of the valleys caught my
eye. It is a dream of beauty--the prettiest one yet, I think--and I plan
to get it. I suppose I'll get it during Butterfly Days (whatever they
are) or the cosmetics day when I pick up my second jar of CdlM (fwiw, I
bought the first jar a year ago at a Vanities event, so it's true; the
stuff really does last that long) but I am definitely getting it. It's a
simple straw tote with pale green leaves and white lily of the valleys,
beaded but not in an over-the-top way, and it will work with my Lillies.

This is weird...was her name originally Sadie and did you get her

Saturday Post and the "Pet of the week" sounds like Daisy...year old
shepherd mix, cute, smart, loyal, loves to play fetch and sits on command.

Lynn,
Nope, that's not her, but we did go to that H.S. --Sadie is still there and she
was sweet! I remember there was a reason we didn't visit with her in the
little room, though, but I can't remember what the reason was. I think it may
have been that the little card said she jumped fences...I know several had that
noted and with two little kids I can't go chasing an AWOL doggie.

I felt better after the people told me they don't euthanize dogs anymore unless
they get really sick. There were tons more dogs there than were listed online,
and I think I checked out nearly every one of them. Ours wasn't listed in the
photos they have at hsmo.org but there are lots of great dogs!

Oh I can understand that!
It was just odd that Sadie's write up said everything you had just
said about Daisy. (Thought I was getting a sneak peek at Daisy
too...darn it.) ;)

I'm glad they don't euthanize anymore!
It's hard to look at the dogs, in person as well as online...I
want *all* of them! I searched for months before I found my baby, Cody,
last year. I got him through Pet Rescue St.L...they were adopting out
of that new PetsMart on 141 (I think, I don't know that area very well)
but now even their website is down.

Anyway, I'm glad you got Daisy, I'm sure she's very thankful for
her new forever home! Give her a huggle for me, will you? ;)

I had a dog as a kid...half lab, quarter collie, quarter German
shepherd. Not a big dog at all, so this doesn't surprise me. It was
also a good thing, since I named her Puppy. She looked like a small
lab.

After a search of four local drug stores, I finally found Revlon
Colorstay Nailpolish--purchased Limitless Lilac, Forever Scarlet and
Extremely Pink (someone at Revlon should really work on these names).
I love these polishes for their staying power, but I'm not crazy about
the colors; I think they lack the depth and uniquiness in other lines.
I was particularly thinking about the Forever Scarlet vs. I'm not
really a waitress.

And my drugstore rant: I finally found the polish in a display on the
TOP shelf above all of the shampoos, about 7' off the ground. Why?? I
think it's safe to assume that the majority of the target nailpolish
market is not that tall. After a fruitless search for an employee to
help me, I stood on the bottom shelf and blindly pulled down bottles
until I got colors I was interested in.

Cute story. Sorry the paper got run over.
Learned a new word. I will probably not use it, though, and just use the
vernacular, lol.

Maybelline Forever Lipcolor in Heather - appears to be equivalent to
L'Oreal's Endless lipstick, but has better colors, in my opinion

L'Oreal Jet-set shine nail color in Pronto - so far, I don't like this.
color is nice enough, but it's chipping after only a few hours

At Dillards:
-1/2 lb box of Godiva valentine chocolates for 50% off. I've had terrible
munchies/sweets cravings these past 2 wks.

At Target:
-3 WnW 666 lip pencils. I really like this color, but I've never considered
this a nude.
-1 WnW 664 lip pencil. I've never tried this color before, but it looks
like a nice lighter actual lips color.
-Tupperware cake carrier. I cook cakes enough that this will be useful. I
figure that I can also carry chickens in it.
-assorted food items. DH & I are trying to be good about cooking for
ourselves during the week, but most of the time we're eating out of
jars/boxes/bags (i.e. Not cooking from scratch). Ah well, at least we're
pretty good about reserving takeout and restaurants for the wkend.

I've found L'Oreal nail polishes chip really fast - even with or without
base and/or top coat and any combination thereof. Lol.

After my doc. appt. (yayyy my lungs are clear!) I went to Nordstroms to get
the GWP from Lancome. Bought a Maguicontrol oil free foundation in the
porcelain shade. The gift is nice, a little quad eye shadow, mascara,
reenergie lift cream, a clippy thing for the hair, and a lipstick that is
so-so in color. And of course the leather-look burgundy bag to hold all the
goodies.

Saw a lot of very nice sandals/slides but did not make a shoe purchase
today.

It must be a relief to know for certain your lungs are clear. The GWP could
be considered your celebration! I saw some cute sandals at Nordstrom, too,
but I need to look around some.

At Walgreens-

*Revlon Colorstay in Buff (the Ivory was too pink on me)
*Tom's mouthwash in Spearmint
*Oreo Mint and Creme cookies (I'm a sucker for anything combining chocolate and
mint. I came home tonight and literally ate ONE! I've not had sweets in so
long that just eating one overwhelmed my stomach. They are delicious.)

I actually think they work better than the L'Oreal ones - those cake; the
Maybellines absolutely don't cake on me! And they definitely have a better
color range.

Carol,

I'm delighted to hear your lungs are now clear and that you are on the
mend.

Must be that clean Arizona air!
