Its Thursday, and we're up early to get into the office to work on a client
project. In the afternoon, meeting with equipment vendors, and in the evening,
attending a panel discussion that's part of the conference I was at yesterday.
Sunny skies, highs near 60.

- Pumpkin orange cotton jersey scoop-neck pocket tee (shortsleeved);
- Black wool blazer (tunic length);
- Black micro-pleated skirt (mid-thigh);
- Nude sheer Hanes SR pantyhose;
- Black patent leather "maryjanes" pumps from NineWest (2 3/4" heels);
- Black wool hooded cloak (mid-calf length).

Take care, everyone! Congratulations to the Yankees!

Cheers,<br>

Yesterday, I woke up feeling healthy for the first time in about two
weeks, so I did what any sane and thinking woman would do: I took the
day off! What a treat. Wonder Dog and I went for a very long walk in
the woods and fields behind my bro-in-law's house. Madhu flushed some
pheasant, chased a buck white-tailed deer, and hunted mice. I watched
the clouds, collected the brightest red leaves to make myself a crown
(who else remembers this from childhood?), climbed a huge old oak
tree. It was glorious.

I spent a good part of the afternoon making ratatouille from
JimmyinPA's recipe. Yikers! Delicious, but keep the beers coming.
This morning, I noticed that James had labeled the container of
leftovers as: Dangerous. Flammable.

So, today, for back at work, I am channeling Mary Tyler Moore as Laura
Petrie:

- black Ferragamo loafers
- red trouser socks
- black *very* skinny trousers, just above ankle length, tiny vent on
the outside of ankle
- loose white shirt, worn untucked

I feel like I should do a quick interpretive dance through the stacks
of the Library.

It isn’t easy following two such beautiful women, but I’ll give it my
best shot.

Glad you liked (??) the ratatouille, Carla. Forgot to mention the need
for copious quantities of beer, though that Indian drink made from
yogurt is also a good accompaniment for those who don’t drink alcoholic
beverages (or like yogurt!)

I’m attending a dinner this evening to say good-bye to a respected
colleague of long standing. A Jewish refugee from the Soviet Union 15
years ago, he and his family came to America penniless, and not knowing
a word of English. My company hired him, despite difficult financial
times, because it was ‘the right thing to do’, and asked me to mentor
him, as I was the only employee who could speak any Russian. I will
sincerely miss him, both for his technical excellence, and for the
foreign language practice!!

Attire for another beautiful, Indian Summer day:

Lands End 3-button poly/wool blazer in Dark Oak

(various fruits and leaves all in seasonal shades of orange, brown,

If they saw snow in Houston, I suspect the police would tell everybody

So, it seems that winter has arrived for those of us hardy (or is that
foolhardy?) enough to live in the northern tiers. A killing frost
last night took the remaining nasturtiums, zinnias, cosmos, and
asters. The leaves crunch and the ground resists and crackles. The
dog is geeked by the cold and the wind.

James and I built a fire in our fireplace yesterday, and spent the
evening reading by the hearth. Madhu is never sure is a fire is a
good thing (warmth) or evil spirits (snaps, pops, sparks). Often, the
pop of a log wakes him from sleep and he jumps to his feet in full
"fight or flight" mode, barking at the fire and trying to defend me
from the noise and heat.

TOday is clear and cold. For a day of writing, I wear:

- brown suede Ferragamo loafers
- slightly paler than my true skin tone YSL pantyhose (oooh, these are
nice)
- dark olive wool gabardine skirt, couple inches above the knee
- brown faux alligator belt
- pale olive linen shirt, ironed to perfection this morning and now
working its way toward wrinkled to perfection
- double strand of pearls

For outside, for the chilly walk to work:
- bright blue Lapp jacket, embroidered and embellished with yellows,
reds, greens
- puruple gloves

I've been looking at cashmere this year, considering black and gray v-necks and

softer or better feeling than the merino wool that's $40 or $50. Not twice as
