Checked target - still no sign of the new designer makeup line :( I
returned to the grocery store (where I bought it) the Cover Girl makeup
that had titanium dioxide and burned. I thought I might have a problems
since there was a young man at customer service, but he was charming and
said oh they must have changed the formula and gave me cash. So I marched
next door to CVS and spent it! Bought the 2 limited edition fall L'Oreal
"On the Loose" pigment powders: Gunsmoke and Vintage. Hate to pay CVS
prices but most of the L'Oreal Roses fall color stories do not have these 2
pigments. They are a delight. Gunsmoke is pure crystal and even a bit like
the Mac frost that you can mix with matte shadows to make them shimmer. A
pro trick is to take a pin and scrape a bit of matte shadow for mixing and
then add the shimmer. Voila matte and shimmer in the same color to
compliment each other. And the Vintage is a delightful plum rose, not
bright rose or hot pink, not screaming red, not as dark as lovey dovey. It
reminds me on a bit of the new Bobbi Brown shimmer Raisin - except the
L'Oreal has more depth! rjudith

Question for rjudith & others sensitive
to titanium dioxide - what sunscreen
do you use? Parsol 1789 can be
irritating, too.

As per my September wish list two Boots No7 eyeshadows:
I couldn't resist with $5off and free brush set in brush aluminium canister

-Gunpowder (07)- duo of dark cool grey and matte v. pale grey
-Shades of Midnight(15)- trio (the last one they had, egads!) intense med.
purple, pale pink and black

I'd already bought the Rum Barley trio (plum, taupe and shiny grey-lavender) and
find these shadows densely pigmented and long-lasting, particularly when applied
with a damp brush. I never bother with eyeshadow base and they haven't creased
at the end of a 14-hour shift.

There is a makeup artist event at my local chemist next week and I'm eyeing off
the other eyeshadow sets as well as the new collection which has a lovely gold
pressed face powder.

I'd like to know too. I am allergic to titanium dioxide, avobenzone, and
zinc oxide and have now resorted to just not wearing any sunscreen, which I
would rather not do. The closest I've come to being able to handle titanium
dioxide is Pola's Super Sunscreen bought from Jo Ann. Some days I can wear
it, some not. Advice?

What I bought yesterday night after work:

1 package of red bean Japanese snacks from COO in Seibu.
Everything else in Pacific Place is WAY expensive. I did spot a pair of
beautiful Tiffany & Co. earrings that I have not seen in NYC, though... $1,300
HKD for silver.

1 HK magazine written in English.

Off to Kwai Fong where I purchased:

2 Hello Kitty cosmetics bags. So cute & so inexpensive!!
2 lipstick holders with mirror. Unique design.
2 sets of hair barrettes.
2 toe separaters for polish time.
1 thin cable necklace to wear the black pearl & white gold pendant the fiance
bought me over the weekend.
Maybe more, but I can't remember now.

I so, so wanted to buy more shoes/sandals - the selection here is unbelievable &
there are such great deals! The fiance is already griping about the number of
shoes I have now.

I needed a new moisturizer so I decided to try the Shiseido Pureness
moisturizing emulsion. My skin is actually more dry than oily, but the
texture was so nice. We will just have to see how well it works. I also got
a sample of the Shiseido Benefiance eye treatment mask. I have something
similar from Cosmence so this will be fun to try.

Lancome had a GWP at Dayton's so I picked up the fuschia lip palette and the
kit faux-cils I've been wanting. I love the lip palette. I could not get a
look identical to the print ads, but it is very pretty. The GWP is a
shimmery brown makeup bag with a couple little brushes, and sample sizes of
Extencils, Blush Subtil in Rose Sable and Rose Ivoire, Renergie in regular
or oil-free, Alloy nail enamel & lipstick, and a sample of Tresor. The kit
also came in a set with even browner colors than these.

I also bought a black slightly shimmery microfiber purse and a cute little
black satin evening handbag. Both were very inexpensive - just fun pieces.

I returned the MAC StudioFix which parched my skin. Why didn't they tell me it
was not for dry skin?
Picked up Studio Finish Matte Foundation which the MA told me would be better
for dry skin. Is it a sheer coverage foundation, anyone know?
Also: Ricepaper shadow (love it!) and Lust lipglass (can't decide).
Checked out the "Nico" lipglass (new, I think) and I loved it. I just wonder
if a 30-year old stay-home mom would look silly at the grocery store with
glittery lips in the middle of the day.
Melanie, who still is getting used to glitter but it's growing on her.

Yes you do! Glitter is good, glitter is our friend. Everyone should
glam up for a trip to the grocery store, it would make the trip alot
better for me anyway. Some of those people are scary!
I went to Rite Aid to pick up more Liquid Lipsticks while they were
having the buy one get one free sale. I got...
Merlot
Latte
Daiquiri
Sparkling Cider
I know have eight of them. Ha! Greedy me. The cashier, Ms. Retard,
rang them up wrong so I only paid $3 for each of them some how. I'm
not complaining though.

LOL, thanks for the affirmation...I think what I am wondering is this:
Is something like the Nico gloss *so* noticeable that people will say to
themselves, "Look, that woman has glitter on her lips!", or will it just look
pretty and iridescent and not out of place...it does not add a lot of color,
BTW, mostly glitter.
If I hadn't tried it on and fallen in love with it I would have assumed that
was a color for evening and people that are a lot trendier than myself.
And what's your secret on the Liquid Lips? Mine--Mochaccino-- is just oily no
matter how much I pump it.

I have and love Nico, in fact I wore it to an outdoor music festival all day on

You need that gloss Melanie! You have to have it! You know you want
it!
Who cares what other people think! You will put those other women to
shame when you go strutting into the supermarket with your glittery
gorgeous lips! Plus kids like glitter so your also getting it for the
benefit of your child. Oooo thats a good one! If you love it then wear
it, if someone doesn't like it tell them "Bite Me!"
As for the Liquid Lips, no secret. They go on like silk and are
powdery. I haven't had any problems with them. I also discovered when
I got home that I picked up another Merlot, now I have two. I must
really like that color.

I'll have to check out Amcal chemists in Melbourne. Once again, the
lemming in me is
jumping up and down - especially now that I know it is available
somewhere else in
Australia (and Perth of all places - just kidding ;)

My brother actually lives in Perth (well one week out of four that is,
as he is a
Geologist and works out in the middle of nowhere for the other three
weeks). I could
always get him to pick something up for me - but I usually like to have
a play with a
product before buying and I think he may be less than eager to go into a
store and buy
makeup!

Yes, Mecca is great to be able to see the products everyone is talking
about, but
honestly, most of the rave/lemming products I look at don't end up
meeting my
expectations. For example, I was dying to buy Philosophy products after
the initial
raves on af, but when I tried them in the store I was less than
impressed. Much prefer
my aesop and even my neutrogena products which are about a 1/4 of the
price!

Anyway, thanks for the tip off,

I was at Target today and these 2 ladies were exclaiming (quite

each!! I raced over to the sporting area and snagged the last one for my

less than $25.00 its a great gift to park in front of the Christmas

Nothing. I'm proud of myself for being so strong ... :) Went to a one-on-one
Darphin makeup presentation yesterday, and even with pressure I didn't crack. The
MA really didn't do anything that impressed me and didn't use any colours that I
couldn't improvise with what I already have. The only thing I'd consider was the
undereye concealer pencil - that was better than any concealers I've tried so far,
so I may return for this. Otherwise all the line was pretty yawnsome .... :( Oh,
and she used the most hideous lipstick on me that I've ever seen - I'm normally
pretty polite and laidback, but I made her remove it before I left the salon, I was
so revolted.

Bravo! Don't look hideous because of someone else's bad choice. What
if you ran into someone you knew, and they thought Kate's makeup looks
terrible. I did the same (lipstick removal) after being painted by a

4 N'sync tickets for my two (much) younger cousins and I - I cannot
BELIEVE I woke up at 6 to stand in line for a concert I don't even want
to GO to, but I digress...

At Express: a black miniskirt with a floral light blue & purple
embroidered pattern. This will go with my baby blue Gap cardigan for
the New Years party I'm attending :)

Trip to Tar-jay:
Two pair of brown khakis
(the CEO of Dayton Hudson buys his pants there!)
One CD (one of these "greatest hits" things)

Went to the Foot Locker Outlet in Houston. IMHO, they need to lower
their prices.... although they may be the "pick up what you forgot to
buy last year, at last year's price" outlet. Didn't buy anything
there.

Out to eat -- pasta primavera. Had some real entertainment when I was
out eating. There was a teenage girl with her parents (using the "she
looks just like her Mom" rule) and her BF. Said teenage girl kept
putting her hand between her BF's legs to try to fluster him. It was
hard to avoid LOLing several times.

i used to have the wild colors (red, blue and green) mascaras from shu
uemura - not sure if these are called mascara basic. if it is, i
wouldn't say it's the best - hard to apply and the need several coats to
deposit the colors evenly... mufe's mascara has better quality.
