Any recs for a cleanser for dry skin (I think I've finally
figured out that no moisturizer in the world is gonna be able to
undo the dryness I'm inflicting while washing).

I'd say in general my skin is dry with some spots somewhat
normal. It's prone to flaky spots. I also have the occasional
pimple tho' those are less frequent. I've been using L'Oreal's
hydra something or other but I think it's still too drying.

TIA,
Sara

When I was taking Accutane, my skin was sooooo dry, just flaking off my face.
I picked up a sample of Eucerine gentle moisturizing cleanser at the derm's
office, and tried it and was really surprised that it worked! It left my skin
soft, and not tight, but it still felt clean (not like it had just deposited
oil on my face).

A few people here recommended Eucerin Gentle Hydrating
cleanser, available at drugstores. I believe it says that it
does not clog pores.

I too have dry skin, and fairly sensitive. I LOVE Estee Lauder verite line.
It works awesome. Also, for a cheaper version, Cetaphil has milky cleansers
and creams I use both of them They actually lock moisture in your skin, so
it feels nice and moist..Both brands work excellent...Cetaphil you can get
at London Drugs etc....Hope I helped...Mel

Don't know if this has been rec'd already, but I strongly recommend
Cetaphil. It doesn't leave the face feeling stripped. But be warned -
it doesn't take off makeup. Shiseido "Advanced Makeup cleansing gel"
(from the Vital Perfection line) does an excellent job of taking off
makeup. You can follow it up with the Cetaphil cleanser.

Clean and Clear Sensitive Skin Cleanser (sooo cheap!)
The body Shop foaming cleansing cream (smells great too)

Both remove makeup very well without leaving a tight feeling on the
skin.

I alternate between:

* Cetaphil
* Dove for Sensitive Skin (I must say this -will- require the use of
moisturizer, but it cleans my skin so well I put up with it)
* Oil of Olay Daily Renewal BHA Cleanser (this has little microbeads which work
wonders on the dry patches on my cheeks...its not too harsh for my sensitive
skin. I use this one the most often)

I've used Oil of Olay moisturizing cleanser some and it isn't bad.
I have oily skin, so I can only use it in the driest parts of winter.
Neutrogena has a moisturizing cleanser I like but not as much. It
doesn't lather much so I find it harder to rinse off.

You probably know hot water is very drying. This is probably my worst
problem. I'm addicted to very hot showers and I hate fiddling with
the temperature just to wash my face. All of me would be better off
in cooler water, of course, not just my face -- my legs get seriously
icky in the winter. But I just love standing under the hot water.
