I remember when I checked this froup at least 30 times a day. Now
it's more like once a month.

Who is still here?

Oh, and in case anybody is wondering (or cares), it took forever but
I'm finally preggers again. This time it looks like things will
stick, and hopefully I'll pop at the end of January. Keep yer fingers
crossed.

In other news... there is no other news. My life is boring. Unless
you want to hear all about my toddler, which you probably don't. :P

I've come to molest the corpse of aft-s. Occasionally it moves, but
that's just gas.

I think you've gotten me confused with LisaB. :) This is only the

Because nobody *really* wants to hear about other people's kids.

But in case you do... (Cap, stop reading now.)

She's three and a half, potty trained, happy, healthy, and starting
preschool in the fall. Ummm... what else is there to say? :)

It's on my subscribed list, and I read it when new messages show. I
tried to start something awhile back, but not many takers.

Oh goddamnit. Here's what what I posted back in Nov 2005:

"It's still in my newsgroup list, and I check it out if new messages are
listed. I tried to start a thing a while back, but it went
nowheresville man."

When she gets to school and they do that "grade each others' papers"

Still a stay at home mom. I love it. Bought a minivan. Can you
believe it? Going to my 20 year HS reunion this year. Lost 27 lbs.
before getting knocked up. So much for that.

I think that's about it. Like I said, my life is boring. :)

I have no doubt she'll be finding her own ways to trollerize her
peers. When she was 2, she used to hide her blocks in my shoes.
She'd wait for me to unsuspectingly put them on, then crack up
laughing when I'd hurt my feet on the blocks. Little prankster.

It would seem to me like you'd have time for posting messages to
usenet, as you're basically goofing off all day.

> I love it. Bought a minivan. Can you believe it?

My brother had one while his girls were young. Actually not a bad
vehicle for a group.

> Going to my 20 year HS reunion this year. Lost 27 lbs.

The way it seems to go with the reunions is that the people you see
break down into three categories:

1. Those you are still in touch with. It's good to see them, but you
didn't need a reunion.

2. People you haven't seen in a long time, but don't really care to see
again.

3. People you didn't know.

The category you want, those that you'd like to see but have lost touch
with, sadly seem to never be there.

My last reunion kind of sucked. By the 30 year mark, the number of
attendees was way down. And, and, AND, they had a cash bar at this one.
Not a cheap one either. Amazingly, the date of one classmate got
absolutely hammered. This was the first time I'd seem someone literally
"falling-down drunk".

This guy when trying to leave would go about ten feet and have to
collapse in whatever convenient chair was available. In the parking
lot, he went down hard on knees (ouch). Hotel security rushed out there
to make sure he wasn't driving home.

That was about the most exciting entertainment.

I was going through some old bookmarks and stumbled on an old post of
mine (http://groups.google.com/group/alt.fan.tom-servo/msg/
68c70d6ddb518b20 if anyone cares), and I thought "I wonder what's up
with all those nutty aft-s guys."

Not much apparently.

It's like the end of Babylon 5 when Sheridan comes to the station and
the only person still there is Zach. Kinda sad, but blogs and web-
based forums have taken the place of USENET. I wonder if they will
blow it up to prevent navigation hazards?

One funny things about the blogs is that many of the blogs in the
communities that I read have no idea about the sort of moderated vs.
non-moderated controversies we went through in Usenet. Anonymous
comments are often dismissed simply because they are anonymous, and
people don't seem to care as much when the creator of a blog deletes
comments they don't personally happen to like.

When I was a kid, we posted barefoot in the snow, uphill, both ways.

These kids today, with their hair and their clothes and their blogs.

Sounds like my last reunion (10th. HS one)

Saw some cool peeps, but a couple that everyone asked about had
disappeared. There were some sad cases too.

Overall my main thought was "Yeah... yeah. This is why 10 years ago, I
cruised on out...."

Still wierd to look back and see how things went, proud some people
did certain ways, sad in other cases, but things go on.

Yep, that's pretty much how it all went. Combined with a lousy dinner
and bad music from the 1940s. (How old did they think we were??)

We had someone like that at our 10-year. He's now a local politician.

The food at my last one wasn't that bad. The best was the make-to-order

The amusing thing is, most of the people I'd really want to keep in
contact with, I've kept in contact with, in some form or another.

The others that it would be kinda nice to see again, I've recently
found on Facebook.

So, maybe I won't go and just save some money...

Hmmm.
